@@naturalbeauty0214 do you still use this for retwist? My son will be starting his journey snd he has a softer texture but a 4 curl pattern. I want to stay away from products that cause buildup.
I ❤️ this. Thank you so much for the DIY tutorial. I made an oil and rose water for my locs. Then I decided to make some sugar scrub and lip scrub for myself. I researched the ingredients and made some tweaks to the DIY’s I found. I added Vitamin E, Tea tree and Moringa oil to the gel. Worked like magic. No flakes. Not oily. Not greasy. No residue. This is inexpensive and easy. Thank you so much🖤🖤🖤❣️

Lady!!!! Yaaaasssss!!!! I need this. I get so scared when I retwist because I dont want to apply products that will cause too much buildup. Your locs are beautiful!!
FYI-If you make a lot and don't use a preservative you can portion the gel and freeze the leftovers. I have had good success with this since I never use all I make and it will go bad in a very ugly and evil way. Also flaxseed gel makes a great vegan egg substitute and it is good for you too.

Thanks for the recipe on how to make the gel! I currently alternate between aloe Vera gel, and loc gel. My locs are only a year and 2 months old and I’m looking for them to grow and be healthy. Your hair looks great! Thanks for the video
Hi, I just finished making my flaxseed and aloe gel for hair. I can't wait to use and that will be tonight. I will let you know the outcome. I will also be doing the AVC wash fir the first time on my loc of seven years.
a trick to keeping it from boiling over is to place a wooden spoon or spatula over across the pan, mid way to center....has to be wooden, or bamboo, not plastic or metal...
I just had to do it again, my first batch I used too many seeds and kept on the stove for too long, felt like gorilla glue lol second bath came out great!!!!! Thank you
Great video. I'm about to start my 4th loc journey and i've used aloe and oil before but never flaxseed. I will definitely use this method when retwisting.
There's so much out there! I'm going to be doing more videos on natural products soon. My loc maintenance and tips playlist has alot of natural products and tips. Its in the description box and at the end of the video. Older videos but great info!

hi...lovely videos. I tried the flaxseed gel with your tutorial...thanks for that. used it on my locs only to have crazy flakes in the morning. I had to rewash my hair, it was terrible. Plus some fell on my skin during the process and dried; I had to peel it from my skin; it was like glue. Please what went wrong? Thank you.
Wow, can u do this with Chia seeds too & show us...b/c I know they tend to have the same consistently when placed in regular room temperature water for a few hrs too?
That's funny, I've been doing some research on chia seeds and had just purchased some to do a review. I'll be doing a review with Chia seed on my next retwist. Thanks for the suggestion!
Would deffo recommend looking into preservatives as they make your products last much longer saving you time and money. I would recommend phenoxyethanol but there are soo many good ones.
Put a wooden spoon over the top of the pot and it won't boil over. I don't know the science behind it but it works.
really?!!! I love little quirks like that...thanks I'm going to try that on my next natural gel tutorial!

NaturalBeauty0214 how is it on flaking?
As long as you add oils to the gel its good. Even without the oil there is very minimal flaking
Where do you get the aloe vera gel that you add to it? I wanna try making this for my locs.
NaturalBeauty0214 hey how long do the gel last do you put in refrigerator or you keep it out
Do you have to use it right away or can you store it in a glass jar?
Thank you! I bought my ingredients yesterday and will be making my own loc gel during my first DIY retwist today. Excited!
Lay a wooden spoon across the top of the pot and it won't boil over the top.

Well done. You have lovely locs.
It is so much easier to strain the seeds when the gel is hot. Then let the gel sit and thicken without the seeds.
