Hey Simon! That means so much. I really appreciate the support. I filmed this wedding with my assistant and the photographer was next to us most the day haha. Framing on the thirds almost always keeps them out because most photographers frame to the center.

Of course! I think the biggest misconception is using zooms or prime/cine lenses. I love the look and depth of cine lenses. I also find that 90% of the wedding I prefer not to be any wider than 50mm. The depth and focal length is perfect for keeping frames interesting. Wishing you the best as you explore wedding filmmaking more!

You have got some amazing work man! I love the way this was captured. Everything from audio to stabilization to color was on point. I would be interested in how you guys were equipped for this wedding to pull that off. I also see that there was a ton of intricate exposure decisions that had to be made as certain shots developed. That is no walk in the park.
These lenses render beautifully. I just got my bp6k pro and I'm using the sigma 18-35 and I've never had a harder lens to nail focus with. It makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes lol. I really need something like these lenses with a cinema housing with a longer focus throw.
Hey man thank you so much for this! I usually have the bride wear a mic so a lot of the sound bites came from hers like that opening scene where she was talking about her fiancé. We shoot in raw so a lot of exposure misses can be corrected but I solely rely on false colors when out in a run and gun setting. I try to make sure my skin isn’t crushed and my sky isn’t blow out lol. If it is, I usually adjust angle to hide the sky so I can bring up exposure on the skin.
I can talk about it all day haha I should just do a video about it.
Yea I have the 18-35 as well and agree with you. It’s great but even harder to nail focus on the gimbal. I definitely recfomend the irix lenses. They are insanely sharp and render colors so beautiful. They are consistent too between lenses from what I’ve noticed. Definitely grab the 30mm to start.

@@jackyAmar13 that’s a good question. I have both and love them equally. I run the pocket with the 30 literally the entire day. The 45 is on the Ursa for everything up to the ceremony.
If I could only get 1, it would be the 30 for sure

The party bit hits the spot, how long did it take you to edit?
It’s definitely my favorite part lol. It just comes in so hard haha catches you off guard. This film took around 3 or so days to edit. I usually edit parts of it and then do different things to keep the ideas fresh
The footage is amazing however from my experience it’s better to catch real moments and film as an observer. I fell into the cinematic trap myself because deep down we are movie makers. Your audio is also excellent!!

Do you think the IRIX 30mm is too sharp? I just ordered one to try and see if it is something I will like. I had an SLR Magic microprime APO 32mm T2.1 which I used to shoot the second half of my Raft Off 2023 video on my channel but returned it because I thought it was a bit soft but perhaps I was quick to judgement.
I wouldn’t say it was too sharp at all. It’s a beautiful lens and I still own it to this day.
3:13-3:14 was this just a edit in post of one shot or did you have a separate camera setup? Must’ve been like 6k footage or something to zoom that far in and it be unnoticeable 🤯

Hey! I film in b raw 12:1 or Q5 usually. Remember if you’re filming in raw, it doesn’t add any noise reduction in camera. You’ll want to add 3-4 percent in post. Also, exposing properly at 400 or 3200 iso. 400 for best highlight recovery and 3200 for shadow recovery.

I use the 30 often. Absolutely love it. Most of the gimbal shots in this film is with the irix 30mm. 🙌🏾🙌🏾

You think the BP-95 and 1 tb SSD should be enough for all day if i shoot in like 12:1?
That will definitely be more than enough. I would film Q5 though and turn the camera off when you aren’t using it

@@TimandLauren oh nah! I feel like buying a Blackmagic to film on pro res is a waste of time. B raw is literally the reason to own a Blackmagic camera. It requires more grading and storage but it’s worth it for sure

A combination of both actually. We used a monopod for the most part and a gimbal for the ceremony and reception at parts.

Thanks so much! Yes, it was filmed primarily with the bmpcc6K Pro and Ursa Mini Pro G2. During the ceremony, there was a third camera and that was a bmpcc6K.

@@SEKILEFPV haha yep. My second Uses the 70-200 and gets the tight angles during professional and then focuses on reactions until the officiant tells everyone to sit. I’m all over the place with the 6k pro on the gimbal lol

How do you like the irix lenses ?
Hands down the best glass I’ve had. Insane depth when wide open. Little to no chromatic aberration, sharp and a beautiful focus throw.
@@JustinPorterMedia thanks ! I plan to buy one for a Canon c70 but I'm not sure which mount I should take. I can go straight rf mount or ef but I will need a speedbooster ( that I don't have yet). Also between the 15, 30 and 45mm which one you like the best ?
@@Makta972 oh yea well I’d say it depends on the systems you will use often. If yoh know you’ll be RF then I’d save the money and go that route for sure.
I would get the 30mm. That’s the main one I use. It’s more run and gun versatile. The 45 and 15 I love but there’s a time and place for them.

btw my guess would be to just crop the edges of the video, and position the image to the point you want. Though that is just how i would try to emulate it theres gotta be another way

I’ve been a Portrait Photographer for a bit but shot about 10 Weddings and became addicted to capturing the story in Video so Now moving into Videography.
Currently Only on 2 Canon EOS Rs, DJI RS2, Mini 2, Audio Tascam DR-10L & Zoom F3 so been ramping up on gear while looking the get my Marketing Game up.
