Aermacchi was owned by Harley Davidson before turning into Cagiva. The Italian manufacture built many road bikes & scooters. Winning a number of GP along their way. Even building a motocross bike as well.
I have a 1976 Aermacchi Harley Davidson SX 175. It is a great bike. It is rare to see in complete form and mine is only missing a couple of small things like the triangle piece that covers the battery. I have had it in a motorcycle show and won for best unrestored bike. I will have it in another motorcycle show here in a couple of week in Cincinnati, OH at Rhinegiest Brewery where it will more than likely will be the only one of its kind on display. Thanks for the history lesson. Cheers.
A bloke at the pub would ride one every so often on a Sunday. It was a 350 roadbike. Pretty nice. You didn't explain the different two stroke and four stroke road racers but that's OK. The best orange bike was the Can Am.
I'm an Aussie living in Seattle and currently restoring a 1972 Aermacchi 350SS - Was great to hear the story Mate! Cheers
Thanks. Were are you from in Australia?
Great bike.

The Photos of the 1966 and 1968 bikes are two strokes. As I recall Aermacchi won championships with two strokes .

I've always kinda liked the SWM 500. Interesting to hear the way back history behind the brand.
Enjoyed that. Great explanation of the lineage.
Thanks
Thanks John

Maybe just me 😂
LOL Yup, it's not "Eye-taly" is it? (Well, unless you are John Wayne in a GI movie)
Aussies say Fillum for film. Nothing wrong with being an Aussie. 😊
