She walks onto the stage looking like she is unsure of where she is. Perhaps it is because Bach is sitting right there as 1st violinist. But once she sits down, its pure Yuja Wang magic. Love the dress, too.
Thanks for your tireless efforts to keep us naive spectators from being exposed to her outrageous and scandalous sense of fashion. Each time I read one of your critiques I am grateful that you have the time and energy to comment on every single one of Yuja Wang's videos.

I love Prokofiev music
It is the first movement of that sonata that is very difficult... With a couple of bars almost "unplayable". But the 3rd movement is more famous.
Only Yuja would pick this Prokofiev sonata movement as an encore. Not only the creativity of her choice, but she plays the "pants" off it.
She is definitely one of the best out there and she is playing more and more with orchestras all over the world.
Right now, she is the "queen of the piano." God bless this vivacious, brilliant, and gifted young lady!!!!!

If you read the rest of my comment you would have known this.
Yuja is a unique pianist because she plays the obviously most difficult pieces in the literature and plays them as if they were easy.
As I said, "she is the "queen of the piano". Please read the comments to the end before you make your generalizations!!!

Once in a generation pianist... Observe the glances and smiles as she enters - they all know the beautiful magic and technical brilliance that they are about to witness! She has total mastery of the keys as if they were an extension of her... She is sublime.

Yuja won the lottery the day she was born! She is absolutely gorgeous and incredibly talented!
Seeing as there are literally millions of people as beautiful, and her looks are not in her control, and seeing as she’s one of the best pianists in the world-something she’s actually worked on and deserves credit for-perhaps the best way round is “talented and beautiful”. Or just “talented”. Imagine working to be one of the best in the world at something and the main reaction is to physical appearance.

Hi, Kevin - Like you - I just love jazz - but this lady is something else! Wow! Amazing ! Just shut you eyes, don't look - just listen - fantastic. Not only this Prokofiev - but what about all the other pieces she plays, Beethoven, Bartok, Stravinsky, Chopin (etc) and all of it with great understanding and precision? Yes - she's kinda hot - but so what - just indulge in her astounding musicality and playing.

I have never learned to appreciate Prokofiev until I saw Yuja playing.
If only Prokofiev could have heard and seen her. So brilliant!
Oh don't worry, the greatest pianist for Prokofiev's music was Sviatoslav RICHTER and Prokofiev often asked him to create his works : he had learnt this sonata in... 2 or 3 days... (!!!) and his recordings are monuments of classical music. Russian composers by great Russian pianists is the best. Although Mrs Wang is fantastic in modern and contemporary repertoire.
Yuja will be playing Ravel and Stravinsky April 18th and 19th in Cleveland. I'm thrilled! Perhaps we'll see you.

I heard her live playing Brahms D minor. Second row center. I'll always remember that concert. She played it utterly beautifully. I was right under her hands. And he had a gorgeous long gown.
I've been a big lover of jazz and classical music for most of my life and i don't think i have ever seen so much passion and energy in someone's playing quite like this lovely lady, she brings so much class and elegance to the pieces that it makes you stop everything that you are doing. Yuja Wang is beautiful, incredibly talented and looks absolutely amazing in everything she wears, she's the whole package. What a brilliant piano player and one of the best i have seen in recent years.

Totally warmed up and firing on all fingers to play this piece, total concentration required, no distractions, and, what a hair raiser when the discordant finally blends ... awesome piano, very square finger joints to the keyboard for power, wow.
So much talent, she can play whatever she wants and make history! Keep PLAYING IT FORWARD.

This is the best performance of this sonata I've ever heard. She brought out parts that I'd never noticed! Unfortunately it felt like it fell on deaf ears! I think the only person there that fully appreciated her performance was the conductor! You know a soloist left everything on the stage when they feel insecure and vulnerable afterward! Kudos!

I was not really into prokopieve but as I watch Yuja playing, oh. God. Breathtaking. The fever. I cannot get over it. Yuja is best for this kind of music. No one can play as good as she does. She play other music well but I like her best when she plays this kind. She is beyond virtuosic. She is the best pianist.

She's amazing no doubt, but there are others. People have been playing Prokofiev since the master composed his works. Nothing exceptional here in that regard. Listen to other recordings of his piano works. There are thousands.
