Once in a generation pianist... Observe the glances and smiles as she enters - they all know the beautiful magic and technical brilliance that they are about to witness! She has total mastery of the keys as if they were an extension of her... She is sublime.
She can really keep the momentum in Prokofiev driving and she unleashes the drama of his work with her superior virtuosity! I'm a F'n FAN! She can play (with them little stiff wrists!)
You can see shes a strong young lady, and she unleashes that power on the keyboard. What's truly amazing is that she's as precise as a surgeon. Truly an amazing artist.

This is the best performance of this sonata I've ever heard. She brought out parts that I'd never noticed! Unfortunately it felt like it fell on deaf ears! I think the only person there that fully appreciated her performance was the conductor! You know a soloist left everything on the stage when they feel insecure and vulnerable afterward! Kudos!

Totally warmed up and firing on all fingers to play this piece, total concentration required, no distractions, and, what a hair raiser when the discordant finally blends ... awesome piano, very square finger joints to the keyboard for power, wow.
I've been a big lover of jazz and classical music for most of my life and i don't think i have ever seen so much passion and energy in someone's playing quite like this lovely lady, she brings so much class and elegance to the pieces that it makes you stop everything that you are doing. Yuja Wang is beautiful, incredibly talented and looks absolutely amazing in everything she wears, she's the whole package. What a brilliant piano player and one of the best i have seen in recent years.
Wang’s interpretation is more predictable than a Disney film: please listen to Sviatoslav Richter’s version (to whom the sonata was dedicated) or other recordings. I never heard such a metronomical way of playing, a computer would show more emotions

I heard her live playing Brahms D minor. Second row center. I'll always remember that concert. She played it utterly beautifully. I was right under her hands. And he had a gorgeous long gown.
Oh don't worry, the greatest pianist for Prokofiev's music was Sviatoslav RICHTER and Prokofiev often asked him to create his works : he had learnt this sonata in... 2 or 3 days... (!!!) and his recordings are monuments of classical music. Russian composers by great Russian pianists is the best. Although Mrs Wang is fantastic in modern and contemporary repertoire.
Seeing as there are literally millions of people as beautiful, and her looks are not in her control, and seeing as she’s one of the best pianists in the world-something she’s actually worked on and deserves credit for-perhaps the best way round is “talented and beautiful”. Or just “talented”. Imagine working to be one of the best in the world at something and the main reaction is to physical appearance.
Also, I imagine that talented and beautiful women prefer their talent to be of greater importance than their beauty. Actually, I don’t imagine it, that’s what many women have actually said, and I listened. In this individual case, you’d have to ask Wang. Children, children......lighten up. Take the music as it is. Have your own opinions and let the others have theirs. As with anything else, there is no "correct" interpretation. Savor the differences, in the knowledge that yours is the best.
I love the way Wang is an unabashed entertainer with her sexy dresses. Why should the rockers have all the fun. People have this weird notion that classical music is this solemn religious rite: that's not how the composers conceived it. Its first about pleasure. She gives a lot of that to the audience, and you can always see the pleasure she takes in performing on her face. I don't really care if Richter with his grim face and meat hooks played it better 50 years ago. I'm glad that the ideal performer isn't Heifetz anymore: a guy who never missed a note and always looked like he was singing a trust deed.
Funny, she skips a few measures toward the end. at about 3:15 when you hear the highest chord (about an octave above any others in this section), it's super obvious bc you're supposed to hear that chord twice - 2 measures apart. In the music, it sounds like she jumped from end of measure 152 to beginning of 157. There's another recording of her doing this song where she does it in full, and chooses to do it faster as well so I'm curious if she just found that section repetitive.
Sounds mor elike she just got confused and just carried on (pretty similar chords at the start of those bars, probably didnt even notice at the time). Nothing wrong with that tho, Goulds recording has a pretty obvious wrong note on one of the Ab's from bar 55 onwards, Rubinstein completely forgot a section from the 2nd mov of the 2nd Chopin sonata, etc. Just happens, but the show goes on.
On second hearing, notice how on bar 151 she played the chord from bar 155 instead of the Eb major one, so sounds like thats what pulled her towards skiping 153-154 because it happenes twice.

It is the first movement of that sonata that is very difficult... With a couple of bars almost "unplayable". But the 3rd movement is more famous.

I love the way Wang is an unabashed entertainer with her sexy dresses. Why should the rockers have all the fun. People have this weird notion that classical music is this solemn religious rite: that's not how the composers conceived it. Its first about pleasure. She gives a lot of that to the audience, and you can always see the pleasure she takes in performing on her face. I don't really care if Richter with his grim face and meat hooks played it better 50 years ago. I'm glad that the ideal performer isn't Heifetz anymore: a guy who never missed a note and always looked like he was singing a trust deed.

Funny, she skips a few measures toward the end. at about 3:15 when you hear the highest chord (about an octave above any others in this section), it's super obvious bc you're supposed to hear that chord twice - 2 measures apart. In the music, it sounds like she jumped from end of measure 152 to beginning of 157. There's another recording of her doing this song where she does it in full, and chooses to do it faster as well so I'm curious if she just found that section repetitive.
Sounds mor elike she just got confused and just carried on (pretty similar chords at the start of those bars, probably didnt even notice at the time). Nothing wrong with that tho, Goulds recording has a pretty obvious wrong note on one of the Ab's from bar 55 onwards, Rubinstein completely forgot a section from the 2nd mov of the 2nd Chopin sonata, etc. Just happens, but the show goes on.
On second hearing, notice how on bar 151 she played the chord from bar 155 instead of the Eb major one, so sounds like thats what pulled her towards skiping 153-154 because it happenes twice.
