20 years ago, people visited websites on packaging to find cool original material. Now it's usually just embedded TH-cam videos (I checked the real site after typing that and was 100% correct), so chances are that it's not getting too many clicks from the doll packages.

I checked my local Walmart after seeing this video and confirmed that (1) they absolutely have tons of dolls in stock because they're not the hottest selling thing in the toy aisles, and (2) I picked up the two most popular of the bunch before they sell out for the collector's potential. With PayPal giving cashback for Walmart online purchases and I have the 90-Day Return policy on them, I figured, "Why not?" It'll be funny when Mattel inevitably recalls them.
So, any child could have typed in that URL and accessed the website for the last couple of decades? No parental responsibility to make sure children are aware of and accessing appropriate sites?
yea before i clicked the video i thought someone took over the url but it seems like this is not the case .a lot of older items mention websites that have been shut down and taken over for other things but this is brand new .
What matters is use in commerce and potential for confusing customers, so that means two different companies can use the same word as a trademark if there’s no confusion. But usually you want to avoid that. One example of confusion is Viasat the TV company vs. Viasat the satellite communications company.
At this point its done on Purpose.. everytime you turn around its an excuse w these companies.. "oh it was a typo, o it was this that & the 3rd.." its a real special Hot place for those of you who TARGET these kids w adult content, websites, Etc etc & also the ones defending it/the companies... 🚮🗑
Pushing porn on children is illegal in every state of the US. Can we see some arrests already? This might be seen as a mistake but so is drinking and driving. Doesn't save the driver.
Thanks for covering this! I work in retail as an overnight warehouse jockey, and the first thing I did when I saw this video was go to my store's website to check and see if we carry these toys. Fortunately, we do not.
That is a hilarious oversight. The adult site has been a brand since the days of VHS tapes. It was probably a website as so as the internet was open to the public.
This is the easiest way for Mattel to handle it: you have stores put the dolls in hold, you send your Mattel reps (I worked at Toys R Us for years; yes, Mattel has reps that go and inspect the aisle set-ups and bring in some signage to set up something like a video player they want on an aisle), they would come with new instruction manuals to swap out of the doll boxes, and they would have stickers with the correct site URL to place over the incorrect URL. It shouldn't be too hard to get the packaging open, slip the old instructions out, and put the new ones in. Someone either at Mattel or at the studio is in serious trouble with their bosses. It could be that it's not Mattel's fault if they were given the wrong site.
It is funny to me because it recently leaked that Mattel is using generative AI to "streamline" packaging design, and the blurb on the back feels like AI writing. I wouldn't be surprised if they just used AI for that w8thout vetting it first....
Look at it this way - if *Close Enough* and Tex Avery cartoons what happen when restrictions are few, I'd say pull out all the 'Stops'. ^_^ ,b A lot of thinking, reasoning adults could use more (animated) rewards. Hidden Treasures are often the shiniest.
I see a massive lawsuit coming their way. Kids are curious. Kids WILL wonder what's on those websites, put them in and their parents will be completely, thoroughly and utterly PISSED when they find out that was what it led to, and that these toys are the source! Not to mention, I bet you anything that it will result in a Bud Light situation.......I mean.....What parent wants to buy from a toy company dealing in p - - n?
The company posted a porn site on kids toys, the advertisers should be charged with distributing pornography to minors and the people involved should go on the sex offender registry.
They probably won't be that valuable because they printed a lot and as far as I can tell aren't selling. The limited run will still probably end up at your local Ollie's
This is not the story Kneon and Geeky. The story here is the person who let this happen and whether or not they were a .....you know....one of those hires. You know the kind.....the 3 letter acronym of lets just call it the new standard of quality.
@nicejungle ive seen the pictures from the books. Of a boy giving a man a blowjob. Try epic times. Your might learn some facts. One reason why dems lost the election.
That picture of the doll just looks like it's giving me the finger rather than it doing the "shoosh" gesture, is that on purpose? If it's not then it's hilarious: if it is , still funny.
I’m laughing so hard right now 😂😂😂😂😂 but honestly this is on brand because if you actually read the book there are literal orgies in it. I always told people if your kid loves the musical don’t buy them the book if they are under 17 pleaseeeeeee.
I'm sure that we could go for pages on the number of (niche) 'markets' that are still 'untapped'. ^_^ If the greatness of *Close Enough* is any indication, perhaps it's time for a (properly rated) risque renaissance. It shouldn't take a genie-us to figure out wish-fulfillment.
This is probably a huge screwup by their marketing team. When I worked for Humana back in 2010 I was in their Group Medicare division and overheard VP Tim Wheatley yelling at managers over the marketing team for sending letters to plan members that had an incorrect phone number that went to one of those phone sex lines rather than to the customer service team. The phone number was listed but no one took the time to call it to make sure it was right. That’s likely what happened here.

Great a toy that has a porno site link
What next? The stock market crashes?
Stocks will dip and then rise at a higher rate than before once regulations get cut.
That particular website has been around forever. It's been around since the mid 90s. XD
I was gonna say the company's revenue is probably more than the movie cost to make every year and it will actually make a profit.
Like how you can't trademark the word "Monster" and sue game publishers over it... oh wait....
What matters is use in commerce and potential for confusing customers, so that means two different companies can use the same word as a trademark if there’s no confusion. But usually you want to avoid that. One example of confusion is Viasat the TV company vs. Viasat the satellite communications company.
@@gunnar6674 That doesn't justify taking a common term in gaming as your trademark for a drink, and then later start suing games for using it.
"accidentally..."
Honestly, id MUCH Rather spend time on the website, than to watch that TERRIBLE movie "judging by the Trailer lol"
Doubtful. Probably done by some wacko in marketing. Maybe even a disgruntled employee.
Happy little accident.
@@S59964 "mistakes into miracles"
Yeah, accidentally. Unless you're gonna explain how you're a telepath and somehow magically know intent.
Well, somebody in the Quality Management Department SCREWED up, big time….. 🤣
They’re already appearing at Ollie’s
😂damn..shocker it was a flop before it even begun..
😂 I thought they would, they're so FUGLY that I wouldn't even give those dolls to donate for Christmas.
"Wicked Witches #75" ...they know how to use your magic wands!!!
So the bird and the bees in my phone📲 😂
At this point its done on Purpose.. everytime you turn around its an excuse w these companies.. "oh it was a typo, o it was this that & the 3rd.."
its a real special Hot place for those of you who TARGET these kids w adult content, websites, Etc etc & also the ones defending it/the companies... 🚮🗑
Pushing porn on children is illegal in every state of the US. Can we see some arrests already? This might be seen as a mistake but so is drinking and driving. Doesn't save the driver.
Unless it's a pride parade.
Taking "wicked" into a new level hehehe
I guess you could say that it's...DEFYING GRAVITY.
You can say the Mattel dolls were very POPULAR
Thanks for covering this! I work in retail as an overnight warehouse jockey, and the first thing I did when I saw this video was go to my store's website to check and see if we carry these toys. Fortunately, we do not.
That is a hilarious oversight. The adult site has been a brand since the days of VHS tapes. It was probably a website as so as the internet was open to the public.
This isn't an oversight, it's intentional. It's on the box AND the manual.
I was laughing with someone about this and said "Someone was feeling lazy that day." Oh boy, did someone not check the URL!
Well, things just FREAKY
This sounds like internal sabotage by a disgruntled employee.
The fact that it's on the box AND in the manual, that's not a mistake, that's just cheeky.
That's sick. Intentionally targeting kids.
@@DocMicrowave That's America in 2024.
Whoa, that's a big "oops."
Is it really an 'opps'?
I might have to pick up one of those dolls; they’re collector’s items, now! 🤑
I won't even bother trying, the jokes write themselves with this one.
That reminds me the time is releasing IronHeart, there's is a japonese pron movie with the same name.😂
Destined to become a collector's item? America baby!
Hi!!! I am OP on the Reddit post who broke the news first :)
so, do you think it's a sign Dan Schneider might be working at designing toy packaging now?
Grats, sharp eyes: while I'm (pretty) sure it's an error... does Mattel honestly not check even basic things like if the URLs are correct? Geez...
Please get off reddit
How on earth did anyone find out? Who would even look at this toy?
Omg I can't believe someone would actually admit to posing on reddit
Imagine if kids actually go to the website and see just how wicked it really is that’ll make it feel Rated-R😅😂.
🤣🤣🤣
Wow what a way to start the Holiday Season.
This wasn't an accident; this is Hollywood, remember.
Indeed!

@@nicejungle Yeah, they are in style now. Someone probably wore one to a music or movie awards event.
Wait, what? I'm not subscribed? I thought that was an urban legend...
It's not sleazy being green.
Someone was trying to sabotage a DEI hire’s job in a better position
Now, that's Wicked.
"Ride a broomstick" wicked!
Not even surprised at this point
They had just *ONE* job...
One job with one hand
@@prodigalpriest Who did?
Had is correct. I doubt they still have it.
10:41 The funny thing is Moana has been renamed Oceana in Italy because there’s an adult actress going by the name Moana Pozzi over there…
Lmao. That's one way to push sales.
I saw those dolls in Target. This is a huge mistake right before Christmas. Mattel is going to be sued if someone’s kid does go online.
I bet the website has seen alot more traffic since this story broke.😂
Disney really trying to get new audiences i see
That's Disney for you. Nothing is off limits.
I think this is Universal, but they are just distributing it.
@@bk6555 it's a completely Universal Studios films for Wicked. Not a Disney film, that would be Moana 2.
@@bk6555 Fair.
😂😂😂 I’m sorry, WHAT?! 😂😂😂
It is funny to me because it recently leaked that Mattel is using generative AI to "streamline" packaging design, and the blurb on the back feels like AI writing. I wouldn't be surprised if they just used AI for that w8thout vetting it first....
Can't wait for the 'wicked' parody. They for sure will have; is the 'kitty' green reference.
Wicked should profit of this by making a wickedmovie parody
Look at it this way - if *Close Enough* and Tex Avery cartoons what happen when restrictions are few, I'd say pull out all the 'Stops'. ^_^ ,b
A lot of thinking, reasoning adults could use more (animated) rewards.
Hidden Treasures are often the shiniest.
This movie has stopped shooting itself in the foot, and got out the rocket launchers.
Legit collectors item with those on the packaging.
Quality control? Companies still have quality control? Nope. They all got laid off and replaced with AI.
Ai? I though it was DEI.
"AI"
The "AI" code:
Def AI_QA_checker (df product_data):
Return 1 #0 = fail, 1 = pass
The company posted a porn site on kids toys, the advertisers should be charged with distributing pornography to minors and the people involved should go on the sex offender registry.
To be fair, with the impeding recall, those are going to be valuable collector's items. Limited runs of anything can be valuable.
They probably won't be that valuable because they printed a lot and as far as I can tell aren't selling.
The limited run will still probably end up at your local Ollie's
Glad you're better GeekySparkles. I like hearing that you're better.
I have a feeling gladiator two is going to blast, wicked out of the water
Definitely not.
This is not the story Kneon and Geeky.
The story here is the person who let this happen and whether or not they were a .....you know....one of those hires.
You know the kind.....the 3 letter acronym of lets just call it the new standard of quality.
I hear they examine pdf files a lot.
It might not be an a mistake with the stuff they have put in schools.
remove your tin foil hat
@nicejungle ive seen the pictures from the books. Of a boy giving a man a blowjob. Try epic times. Your might learn some facts. One reason why dems lost the election.
@@nicejungle What's wrong with speculating?
Absolutely sickening 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
That picture of the doll just looks like it's giving me the finger rather than it doing the "shoosh" gesture, is that on purpose? If it's not then it's hilarious: if it is , still funny.
I’m laughing so hard right now 😂😂😂😂😂 but honestly this is on brand because if you actually read the book there are literal orgies in it. I always told people if your kid loves the musical don’t buy them the book if they are under 17 pleaseeeeeee.
Ironically this could make these dolls a collectors item.
I didn't even hear about the wicked movie until the poster controversy.
This is hilarious and amazing, I wouldn't even be mad as a parent, I'd just bust out laughing while turning it off quickly.
Product for kids right???
Doing well Disney doing well!
I wonder if that website will say "Thank you Mattel for all the free attention."
Satanists like to hide in plain site.. similar to the Balenciaga BDSM kids advert saga
Wicked is not selling that url anytime soon 😅😅😅
I don't believe for a second it was accidental.
Wicked does adult parodies . You can watch things with sadly better acting then Hollywood has right now.
I'm sure that we could go for pages on the number of (niche) 'markets' that are still 'untapped'. ^_^
If the greatness of *Close Enough* is any indication, perhaps it's time for a (properly rated) risque renaissance.
It shouldn't take a genie-us to figure out wish-fulfillment.
Which is fkn crazy. Cause the whole meme/truth "well your not watching it for the story." 😅😅
You know, those doll boxes with the mislabeled url could be worth a buck one day.
That site needs to do an adult parody of the play/movie.
Bless your heart!
I saw people on twitter talking about this and I was laughing. Some people said if they leaned into the wicked movie then they could sell more pr0n.
Zelda sucks.
Howdy Geeky! Hi Kneon. This witch does not want a little dog... .
Geeky gives a Woo Hoo... Kneon should give a Beavis style "Boiiiiiinng" 🤣🤪 heh heh
