Legendery composer of the 1940's and 50's, S. Mohinder ji, who passed away recently, had said in an interview to Vividh Bharti, that it was Rafi Sahab who introduced character specific voice modulation in films for the first time. During the walk the talk interview, anchor Shekhar Gupta ji asked the genius singer Manna da, who he considered was the best among the contemporary singers. Manna da replied " Rafi sahab was the best. He was always ahead of all of us. He could sing any song under the sun, with ease. " There is an interesting episode relating to the song " Taqdeer ka fasana " which was narrated by composer Ram Lal ji, in an interview to Vividh Bharti. Ram Lal ji was the composer of the film "Sehra" produced by the legendary producer, director and actor V. Shantaram ji. The song " Taqdeer ka fasana" was recorded in Mahendra Kapoor ji's voice. However Ram Lal ji felt that Mahendra ji was not up to the mark in the antara of the song. Shantaram ji asked Ram Lal ji to get Rafi sahab to sing the song. Ram Lal ji hesitated, but Mahendra ji volunteered and said, " Rafi sahab mere guru hain, wo maan jaayenge ". When approached, Rafi sahab said " Mahendar, thodi aur koshish karo, sahi ga paoge" Mahendra Kapoor ji said " Nahi Rafi sahab, aap hi gai ye. Shantaram ji aur Ram Lal ji bhi yahi chahte hain. Mujhe bhi lagta hai ki aap behtar gaa paayenge. " Rafi sahab relented. As a bonus, Shantaram ji got Rafi sahab to sing " Tum toh pyar ho" as well. It is interesting to note that in the previous films of Shantaram ji, like " Navrang' and " Stree" and in the next film " Geet gaya patharon ne ' Mahendra Kapoor ji lent his voice( Hemant da, Manna da, Talat sahab were other regular singers in Shantaram ji's camp) No doubt, under the training of Rafi sahab, Mahendra Kapoor ji also came up with some gems. The point is , difficult songs always went to Rafi sahab, and he did do absolute justice to them. I partially agree here with three songs of you collection in your sequence - 1.Din dhal jaye 2. Kaheen be khayaal hokar 3. O duniya ke rakhwale. Songs of high pitch are difficult but more difficult are the songs where the sur or raga is more complex and you can not ever sing or produce those lines even after 1000 trials. As per my experience and and analysis following are the most difficult songs of Rafi sahab that no one can produce them with same sur and expressions: 1. O duniya ke rakhwale (already included) 2. Chahunga mein tujhe saanjh swere 3. Mere mahboob tujhe meri mohabbat ki qasam 4. Teri aankh ke siwa duniya mein rakhna kya hai 5. Kabhi khud pe kabhi haalaat pe rona aaya 6. Tu is tarah se meri zindagi mein shamil hai 7. Man re tu kaahe na dheer dhare 8. Kon hai jo sapno mein aaya kon hai jo dil mein samaya 9. Lagta nahi hai dil mera ujde dyaar mein 10. Jab mohabbat jwaan hoti hai 11. ....and the list goes on. Normally all songs of Rafi sahab are difficult to sing if you do not have basic knowledge of music or sangeet. It is interesting to note that in the previous films of Shantaram ji, like " Navrang' and " Stree" and in the next film " Geet gaya patharon ne ' Mahendra Kapoor ji lent his voice( Hemant da, Manna da, Talat sahab were other regular singers in Shantaram ji's camp)
No doubt, under the training of Rafi sahab, Mahendra Kapoor ji also came up with some gems. The point is , difficult songs always went to Rafi sahab, and he did do absolute justice to them.

I partially agree here with three songs of you collection in your sequence - 1.Din dhal jaye 2. Kaheen be khayaal hokar 3. O duniya ke rakhwale. Songs of high pitch are difficult but more difficult are the songs where the sur or raga is more complex and you can not ever sing or produce those lines even after 1000 trials. As per my experience and and analysis following are the most difficult songs of Rafi sahab that no one can produce them with same sur and expressions: 1. O duniya ke rakhwale (already included) 2. Chahunga mein tujhe saanjh swere 3. Mere mahboob tujhe meri mohabbat ki qasam 4. Teri aankh ke siwa duniya mein rakhna kya hai 5. Kabhi khud pe kabhi haalaat pe rona aaya 6. Tu is tarah se meri zindagi mein shamil hai 7. Man re tu kaahe na dheer dhare 8. Kon hai jo sapno mein aaya kon hai jo dil mein samaya 9. Lagta nahi hai dil mera ujde dyaar mein 10. Jab mohabbat jwaan hoti hai 11. ....and the list goes on. Normally all songs of Rafi sahab are difficult to sing if you do not have basic knowledge of music or sangeet. I am the biggest fan of Rafi Sahab. But koi hoga zarur....jo Rahi sahab to nahi ban sakta..par aisa nahi hai ki ga nahi payega rafi sahab jaisa. Hira dhoondhna padega😀. Mushkil hai par namumkin nahi.
