I need to know, what brand of waterslide decal paper did you use?
Mine is SO HARD to use and keeps tearing/folding on itself.

I use waterslide decal paper from “skullpaper”. When your paper keeps tearing/folding on itself, try to add few more layers of clear varnish. It will make your print thicker. With 2-3 layers it will work better. And of course always wait 3-4 hours before adding another layer. I hope It will helps you with your project’s👍🏻

This is legit the greatest thing I've seen on TH-cam so far, & I am absolutely blown away by how disturbingly legit your take on a movie accurate Woody head looks! You've got the best if not greatest talent at clay sculpting, & you definitely nailed the details everything you did (including the pupils, & the hair streaks). There needs to be more people like you making these things since toy companies like Thinkway refuse to give us fans a movie replica Woody doll we all want. 10/10!
Also, just out curiosity if you don't mind me asking. What did you use to print Woody's pupils when placing them on a clay sculpt of the head, & will it stay on there longer? I wanna try that whenever I get around to maybe making a movie accurate Woody head of my own someday if I feel like it. Much would be appreciated, thanks.

For his eyes 👀 I used waterslide decal paper. After I printed Woodys eyes on it, I let it dry for 4-5 hours. Because after that you need to spray a few layers of clear varnish, and it needs to be completely dry, so you will not destroy your print. And again you can let it dry over night, and the next day cut it off with small scissors, add few drops of water to the back side of your print and carefully separate your print from the paper. And it’s done! After you placed pupils on his eyes you need to seal it with another few layer of clear varnish, and it will stay there for long time. I hope I could help you little bit. 🤗👍🏻

w o w this is just stunning, the sculpt is beautiful but your attention to lighting in the video matching the lighting in the reference images REALLY made me feel like woody's 3d model had just jumped into the real world somehow. I'm used to looking at people working on default grey models in 3d programs so your real hand holding a grey unpainted woody head broke my brain a bit lol, I had a split second "wait... that goes in the computer, you're not supposed to be able to hold that!" moment

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! but if I may ask How do you get the correct skin tone tho ?
also, can I ask, what kind of sanding tool are you using at 0:24? It almost looks like an eraser or a more robust emery sponge
I use sponge with sanding paper on it. It works better than just sanding paper alone, because the pressure is not that strong. And I cut the sponge into strips, because it’s smaller and easier to use 👍🏻

This is beautiful! Do you have a blog or a website where you go into more detail on the process of creating this? And perhaps listing the tools and materials used? You’re obviously very experienced at creating such sculptures, but as someone who aspires to learn this craft it’d be fantastic to know exactly what went into making something like this! Thank you for your comment🙏🏻🤩 for his face I used: model color :basic skin tone, flat flesh, off-white and for his hair: flat brown, mahogany brown. I mixed them together, and as examples I used screenshots from the movies 1 and 2 with different lighting. Hope I could help👍🏻 Good luck with your project 🙏🏻🙌🏻

For the skin tone I used 4 different types of acrylic colors. All colors are from Vallejo Model Color.
Base for the skin tone was „flat flesh“ then I added some „basic skin tone“ and then little bit „off-white“ and just a few drops of „dark flesh“ . Before you start mixing this colors, you need to shake them very well. I even added one metal ball in each color bottle, because Vallejo don’t have one when you buy it. After that, I added airbrush medium from „Golden“ one part paint to one part medium.
After the painting part was finished I sealed Woody’s head with satin varnish also from golden. It doesn’t dry very fast so you need to wait few hours before you add another layer of varnish. And sometimes it sprays with big drops, and I thought that’s gonna be a problem, but I let it dry and then I saw really nice skin like texture. So it worked perfectly.I hope that helps 👍🏻

For his hair I used different types of acrylic colors. All colors are from Vallejo Model Color and all are mixed for correct hair tone, because I didn’t find the right one, that I can buy and use directly from the bottle.
Base Color is „hull red“ Nummer 70985 and „mahogany brown“ 70846 and I added just few drops of „pure red“ hairline’s are mixed mahogany brown with some orange brown. And for darker hair lines also mixed black brown with flat brown. I hope I could help You! Thank You so much much for watching my channel! 🤩 stay tuned for more content!
