Listening to this and considering which generation Matiba came from, what he did does not sound strange. Neither did he expect anything in return. it is cool that Jeff shows appreciation and thanks for sharing the story. In those days a family friend was your surrogate parents they loved and cared for their friends kids as if they were their own and their friends did the same. This free media generation is the one that has been negatively influenced by tv shows that propagate meanness as a cool virtue. So, marriages are breaking down women are fighting men and men fighting women, we are shamed for condemning predators, family friends have become your family's competitor and are doing it dangerously and clandestinely. Long time when you visited your friend you were ushered straight into the house their parents would ask you how your parents were and you would never leave the house at meal times you must eat with your friends irrespective of wealth. Today, with the infiltration of the media, you are not allowed to visit your friends because their parents are "strangers", if you are allowed to visit the parents do not allow you in the house, depending on wealth and influence your parents wield you are considered a negative or positive influence on your friend. when meals are served you are asked to leave the house, all because tv says that is how it should be. Unfortunately that generation of our parents is leaving us with all the love they shared for the community we are being left with the likes of Sonko, ichungwah, kuria and duale people who lack decorum and integrity. Fare thee well Kenneth Gindo Matiba and may God grant his family strength at this trying time.
Rip Matiba but a times wonder how some ppl in Kenya or in the world can accumulate so much wealth when others have nothing and I mean nothing ata uji ya watoi na haina sukari! 😕
