It really does suck. But I believe they kept the smash bros brawl reference in EtP, and others I cant remember.
My personal theory for this is because the game devs themselves clarified this is henry stickMIN not henry stickMAN, therefore this may be an alternate universe where a few things are different

That is kind of a higher-concept physics joke because you have to recognize that vision only happens because the back of your eyes absorb light. if all the light passes through you, then you can't see anything. But most media that uses invisibility as a a superpower ignores this.
This is an easier-to-understand fail.
