I lost my grandpa who raised me and taught me to ride ten days ago. This song is everything to me. Thank you for this beautiful gift. I truly am everything because of him.
Aren't grandparents wonderful? I suspect you might have meant "10 years ago?" If you're like me, my typing fingers and my brain aren't always in sync. I know your grandpa is watching over you.
@@jbriggs3109 No, I meant ten days. At the time I posted this, he had just died 10 days before I wrote the comment. There's no need to come into a comment and correct someone about the time of death of a loved one. What weird behavior.
This song made me bawl! I lost my daddy to cancer in December 2017. He was an old-time cowboy to the bone, and he sure loved his granddaughters and teaching them to ride. Before he died, I told him to find my old mare and get her in shape so she would be ready for me when I got there. I know there was a whole parade of horses and dogs to meet him when he got to those green pastures. I miss him so bad it's a physical ache. Thank you for this song, it's a beautiful tribute to all of the cowboys who are waiting for us on the other side.
I feel your pain!!! 😔 😟 My daddy has been gone for 12.5 yrs. I'm the middle of 3 girls and I was daddy's girl!!! He and my Pap--pa were cowboys and ranchers their entire lives! When I listen to this song I remember traveling on the I95 on a evening late from Cape Canaveral to Jacksonville in 2000 with WKIC and Lee-ann Wormack's Dance. I stopped along the sea side, took a stroll for couple minutes on that cold December evening. But I never felt so free in my life ...
Thank you for sharing this song. My daughter just lost her grandpa this week (my dad) and she rocked this song at his funeral today. She's 20, and loves to sing and play guitar but she doesn't usually let anyone besides family listen. I dont think there was a dry eye in the crowd, and it was a big crowd. ...I'm from Germany...I have tears in my eyes, when I hear this wonderful song. It reminds me of my beloved wife. She was 47, when she dies due to cancer. She had learned riding as she was 5 years old and later she was a fantastic Western Rider. The last horse she rode was a Quarter-Buckskin named 'Apache'. Thank you Kylie! Your song gives me so much!!! 🐎♥
Grampa was the tender heart with a layer of steel that surrounded it as he walked a path to be followed . Legacy is a life that lives past it’s time. That’s why I can see him on the back of my hands while I work, an I can see his face when I look in a mirror. An most of all, I can still feel his love deep inside as he walks threw the halls of eternity. I’ll be along shortly pa, I love u..
I watched you sing at the Rodeo as a little girl- look at you now- This song makes me thing of my Grandpa Ford- popular rancher from central Oklahoma and my best friends dad - Mr. Sloan - famous rancher from NW Louisiana .. me and my bff Mike Sloan were literally raised just like this song and we both think our grandpa and dad are riding horses in heaven for sure🌹🌹🌹 And I hope they are having morning coffee with your grandpa at the farmers cafe on the edge of town ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Watching you on AGT made me cry. I grew up riding Registered Quarter Horses in horse shows, and my Dad taught me how to ride. He was a true cowboy and I have him to thank for my championships and the wonderful life that I had. I lost him at 90 years old in August last year, and I can picture him riding horses in Heaven. ❤ My father was also a singer/guitar player (acoustic, electric, and pedal steel guitars), and I inherited his ear. You have a very good sound and you write from the heart. You deserve to make it big, and I hope you do!
I lost both of my grandpa's on August 19 one in 1995 and one in 1998 they both taught me to ride a horse and a big pot belly hog I sure miss them this is an amazing song it hit me in the heart

Verse 1
Grandpa taught me how to ride
On a buckskin mare when I was five
He told me the way of life was in my blood
And I learned the ropes, how to hold the reins
When I got thrown had to hide the pain
He'd give me the eye and I'd get back up
And these days
Chorus]
I don't know if he's rounding up a herd of cattle
Or going for eight in his old bronc saddle
Or teaching a young buck a hard-learned well-earned lesson
I don't know if he's roaming around just to pass the time
Somewhere up there on the other side
Checking a fence line just as the sun is settin'
But y'all I'm sure that he's riding horses in heaven
Verse 2
Stubborn, strong, thicker skin
I'm who I am 'cause of him
Teaching this girl all that cowboy stuff
And you may say may he rest in peace
But he ain't resting if you ask me
If I know him he's up there kicking up dust

Well I think the angels must've wanted a helping hand
And they needed a cowboy, not just any man

Not bad but wheres the appeal? Theres no catch. It just sounds like background music...
Vick Vinegar,
"... but where's the appeal?"
In the story. If you need fireworks too, you're probably don't appreciate George Strait much, either.
The appeal is Hope. Trust that it is not lost with you. 🌹😎
