  • This was a very fun reaction. I enjoyed all of the music and it was interesting trying to remember my music history knowledge from college. I always enjoy VoicePlay's videos and their collaborations with Rachel Potter never disappoint.
    Make sure to listen to the original artist as well!

    Great reaction, you pick up so many details. My understanding is that in "Hall of the Mountain King", the Grundells find a cauldron in the woods and start messing with it - and unintentionally pop themselves off somewhere. In Chaos, the Green Grundell manages to return, and finding a witch's spell book, brings the other Grundells back. As well as the owner of the book, who tries to regain control. Absolutely amazing how they can take purely instrumental pieces and make their own story lines 😁

      That is a really cool story! I'm not a Patreon subscriber so I never see any of the lore that they share in those groups until people comment it on other videos.
      It is very fun to see how they can tell a story with instrumental pieces
      Thank you for watching and thanks for the compliments!

      Note that the warning about the last page does not say "Do Not Lose" - it says "Do Not Loose" - as in do not set the witch (the owner of the grimoire) free!

      @@gradypatterson1948 That is a great catch. It works as both a warning for people who misread the page and as an actual warning either way. Great planning on Layne's part

    When Layne decided he wanted a chant toward the end, he took inspiration from the talking trees in Disney’s Tiki Room. So it sounds vaguely Hawaiian, but is made up by Layne.

    • @musicalmark
      @musicalmark  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The Tiki Room is a fun experience. I watched another reaction of the video and saw a comment saying that he had made up the chant, but they didn't mention the Tiki Room connection. That's pretty cool.

    Layne did an interview with the Charismatic Voice discussing all of the layers of percussion that he did for this one. Technical and way over my head, but fascinating, nonetheless.
    I recognized all of the pieces but could only name three or four.
    The lyrics were nonsense syllables that Layne wrote.
    Geoff dropped his new one today, Big Iron.

    • @musicalmark
      @musicalmark  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I saw the interview with the Charismatic Voice, it was very interesting. I understood most of what they were talking about but wouldn't have the knowledge, patience, or ear for percussion to do that type of editing.
      Three or four is still pretty good for someone who hasn't taken as many music history classes as a music major would have
      I did see that Geoff had dropped a new one and I have already watched it. It was very good. I considered reacting, but decided I had done a lot of VoicePlay and Geoff recently so should do a different video for my next reaction. I haven't decided what though
      Thanks for watching!

      I thought it was going to be William Tell, too, which is why I said it 🤣 Also, one man team here, I do everything. You are not the only person to say that "editing Mark is savage," in almost those exact words 😆

    Pay attention on the first page and last page. Also, keep an eye on Cesar while they do the CanCan

    • @musicalmark
      @musicalmark  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The first page is the music for Toccata and Fugue (with the title about advance conjuring, not for beginners) and the last page we see is the note about "Last page is next, very important, do not lose." Is there anything to else notice about those? I did mention both of those things in the video. And the fact that Rachel had hidden the page in her dress. I mentioned it but didn't make a big deal about it.
      However, I did not notice Cesar doing the Can Can 😂 It does not surprise me that he did it, but I didn't notice

    Costumes are not _quite_ the same. Layne now has green horns instead of orange - effectively, he now _is_ the Carrot King.
