One of most underrated movies ever made and one of my favorites :-) This is awesome! About to enjoy this
Definitely, I've seen the regular version of it probably 50 times by now but I've actually never seen the extended cut.
The theatrical release version is great! The extended version is just god awful. Go figure.
Awe, Jah's eyes at the end.... Heartbreaking
One of my favorites! Love this man. I ALWAYS watch the extended cut! Love all those rehearsal and gig scenes they cut. Jus watched it last weekend!
We must remember that Jah feels Jordan's sadness too and responds to those emotions. Our pets knows us very well!!
One thing I like about this movie is how each character resembles the personality of a Beatle. Their positions on each instrument are switched but Jimmy is Lennon, Guy is McCartney, Lenny is Ringo and T.B. Player is George. Very clever whether it was intended that way or not

I live about 20 minutes from the Orange Circle & this area is just about one of my favorite places it go for a little staycation for a day. Back in 2015 a date took me to Watsons for lunch, then after we ordered he started telling me about how part of the movie was filmed there. I had already seen it & I owed the movie so I knew where each actor sat...it was so cool. They were just starting the renovations on it & I remember how sad I felt that the original Watsons was going away & not to be enjoyed by other fans of the movie, or just 50/60s original soda fountain/diners.

Just for the record, this is down town Orange, California. That Army-Navy store is one of the places I used to shop for jean's back in the '70's. In high school (summer school) in the Circle you visited briefly (with the duce coupe) I worked at a bank clearing checks using a machine that read the magnetic ink on the bottom. Had to feed 'em in by hand (boring!!). In the movie, things looked more or less the way they did in real life back then. The Army-Navy store told me the "where" when I first watched it! Chapman college was where my parents got their Master's degrees from in the '60's going to night school. They were both school teachers. I moved from Cali in '88. Went to Utah. Still there. Don't know anyone from home anymore. Sister in San Diego, friend in Temecula. All that traffic wasn't there back in the day. One of the reasons I left. I'm happy to have been a part of its history, and glad to know my old stomping grounds was used in a great film. It's too bad the old Ambassador Hotel got torn down. That's where the movie ends. It's the same place where Bobby Kenedy was gunned down. But it had quite a history before '68. I guess they filmed there just before it got demolished. Sad. Anyway, great movie!
Now I’m going to go find and watch the movie! I’ve never heard of this movie which is weird because I love Tom Hanks! Thanks Jordan! Be safe!

Loved the film in 1996 and enjoyed seeing film locations with Jordan in 2018. Locations of Patterson’s and Watson’s were particularly fun. 🦁🌹🦁
Tom Hanks is so talented! I’m glad you and Breck got to vlog that together. It looked like a lot of fun. Speaking of fun...Paris! One of the best times of my life was my trip to Paris. I can’t wait to see what you have lined up.

So very sad that they didn't keep Watsons the way it was. I used to be a regular diner there. There was memorabilia on the wall from the That Thing You Do! and you could sit at the counter where Tom Everett Scott sat and sit in the booth where Liv Tyler and the band sat. Then they gutted it and turned it into a Fridays-Applebee's hipster kind of place. Two times that I ate at the new Watson's food was awful, and the "soda fountain" is now a bar. Still, nice vlog about the film!
When i went into the toy store/Patterson's, he asked if i was going to go to Watson's, and i said yes, so he prepared me for it being totally different..
Interesting vlog...thanks for making and posting it. I do need to correct one thing - the One-Ders didn't come up with that name while in Watson's...it happened when Guy was practicing with the group in someone's garage to fill in for the original drummer Chad before the talent show they eventually won after playing "That Thing You Do" at a faster tempo than Jimmy wrote it in. Guy asked if they were just doing that one tune and when Jimmy said yes, he said "Wonderful!" Fay then said "That's it...The Wonders..." only they should spell it O-N-E like the Beatles used B-E-A-T instead of B-E-E-T-L-E-S. It was changed to The Wonders when Mr. White took over managing the band when they were in the Pittsburgh concert because he said it was too confusing. People kept calling them the O-need-ers!!! One of my favorite Tom Hanks movies!!!
Omgosh, Jah's eyes broke my heart . Breck is such a nice gentleman who loves dogs as well.
I had fun working on the film. I worked at the Ambassador Hotel prior to it being torn down. I was a bellboy in a couple of scenes.
Great facts for a great movie! That’s one you can watch over and over. Oh baby Boy Jah sensed he was going for more than play date. I hate leaving my 4 paw partner! Safe travels and shirts off the hook cool! 😎

Great Vlog, love that movie. At my friend's apartment complex, they filmed a scene from That thing you do. It was the scene where the band meets the owner of Play Tone label Sol Siler and he yells at Jimmy. In that room, you walk out and it's the pool area for the apartment complex.

I bought the single way back in February 1997 but only watched the movie for the first time today!
The music in this movie is awesome. The appliance store outside is the same!!!!! Wow that’s so cool 😎 Tom hanks did a excellent job in the movie, cast is great too. Also Charlize Theron was “Shades” girlfriend in the movie!

As someone who grew up in North Western PA I can say that the locations at least have the same vibe as downtown Erie.
I love that movie! Great seeing all the locations. Watson's looked great in the movie and it's awesome now! Good spot for lunch! Change of subject. I don't know the location of where Bret lives but I hope it's a long way from all the fires going on down there. Be safe guys. We worry about you and Jah.
That's my city! They film a lot of different shows/movies here. That Chase Bank you showed on the NW corner of Glassel & Chapman was The Butchery in season 7 of American Horror Story. Love our little Old Town Orange 🍊

I was living off Chapman ave and working at Disney when the movie was filmed. I saw Tom and Rita backstage at Disney while filming. I love the Orange Circle and have many wonderful memories from living there as a teenager.

So this is like the third or fourth time I’ve watched a vlog about a movie I totally forgot about. Great vlog man safe travels.
The movie was so light and fun it provided a great ride for the viewer. The only real conflict or seriousness was near the end with Faye's breakout and the disbanding of the band. A perfect example of how what is cut out of a movie is what made it so great.

Aww , Jau looked so sad . I don't know if I would have been able to leave him or not . I haven't seen that movie before. I'll have to watch it . I like anything Tom Hanks plays in . I remember watching an interview that was done with him a long time ago . He was telling about what it was like when he was growing up. He said , there were always a lot of family members that lived with him and his parents. Brother , sisters , cousins....just a bunch of them and he was always cutting up and being funny . That was where his personality came from . Thanks Jordan for the awesome vlog !! I'm gonna go try and find this movie.

Watson's was sold and the owners changed everything. I lived there for 15 years and loved the circle.
You left off one spot! The spot where Chad broke his arm is directly across the street from Watson's on the curb by the Wells Fargo Bank. There are no parking meters, but you can see the distinct column of the bank in the shots.

I happened to watch the vlog with your hike to the replica MASH set earlier today and just now learned that it was destroyed in the fire. The Curbed LA site has a running list of landmarks with their current status (if known). I'm sure there are a few things on there that you've covered.

There was a large clock and the steeple of the lutheran church in the opening shot. I wonder how they got the steeple in the shot, was that digitally added? or just a good camera angle.
