For people still commenting on this and wanting to correct things, please note this was a presentation done by an (at the time) very nervous 17 year old just trying to follow a format for a class. Please have mercy and realize this wasn't done on a professional analysis level.

Yeah, it's youtubes fault for upvoting it. It's still a pretty good take on tolstoyanism. Though, you mixed up naturalism and constructionism :P. Hope you got a high 90 on this one. I was just reading Lord of the Flies by grade 11. You must have skipped some grades.

babis o sugias Both. Raskolnikov has a divided personality and in that part of the book he is doubting wheter he should kill the old woman or not. The young symbolises the side of him who doesn't want to kill her and the old man symbolises the evil side of Raskolnikov. The horse represents Alona because he thinks she is nothing but a burden to society. I know you wrote a comment a long time ago, but in case you're still wondering. 😉

Question: How did the man who was in poverty afford alcohol? Sort of a contradiction. Poverty is created. I wonder if that is a “form” of slavery? When a human being as an entrepreneur, I feel that’s a form of freedom.

Alcohol is not always Champagne. Poverty is associated with cheap alcohol and the evils they bring.

I liked ur description of Dostojevski's life and the impact it had on his novel, but the way u "summarized" the book was awful and some facts were straight up wrong. But overall a really good analysis. Hoping u make more videos like this.

Murder is never justified, but R. is justified thru personal belief at the end and redeemed thru faith and personal forgiveness. FD is being controversial, but the book is a restorative fiction for the time in Russia, as you say -- suggesting however that R. is not justified in the end thru faith is a disservice to what FD was trying to do in the novel.

The false story of murdering his Landlady instead of the pawn broker lady and her sister changes the whole story. Did you even read the story??

Read the pinned comment, it looks like this kid was just doing this for a class a long time ago, maybe don’t judge so harshly. Kids make mistakes and I’m sure this kid knows better now since they’re older
