These engines: last 3x longer, save 25% on fuel, 485ft of torque starting at 1300rpm, 1.8mpg, 40-55 knots to speed. BRAVO! Well worth the price.

amazing! super hard to find bowriders or daycruisers comin with these. I always been finding yamahas and zukes (doing excel data on some boats) - but hard to find like from classical brands or so. Hit me up if you know some! Cheers!!

emissions dpf scr egr systems, it’s a lot of extra sensors def fluid and maintenance, they finally getting more reliable in a semi truck world but unknown how it performs in a high rpm application, and that’s why it has a cosmic retail cost

A major advantage with a diesel apart from those mentioned, is that these motors are compression ignition motors meaning NO spark plugs and electronic ignition systems to worry about, particularly out in the deep blue sea and the weather changes for the worse. Question is can they be rope started because of the high compression. I drive a diesel Citroen.

@@regal105 It shouldn't be a problem, that problem has been known about for ages and been addressed, they have water separators. Of course any procedures in the handling of fuel and fuel tanks etc after being out must be adhered to. Don't forget that these are modern engines and should be very dependable if you follow the manual.

The main advantage comes at running at idle and reverse where you have awesome range and fuel efficiency plus far better control than on a gasser. Ideally they would be two stroke diesels but now that Evinrude has been forced into bankruptcy I guess that says all that needs saying at the moment. Right up there with Victory Brands from Polaris being forced out of business.

      Hi Gerald,
These outboards are 300 hp apiece and they're the only units available at this time. You can perform routine maintenance on these engines but for major work you'll need to take them to a dealer.

Battery storage is not solved enough yet. Cars and boats are very different. For a car when you get up to speed on a level road you need very little energy to keep it going. A boat is the equivalent of a car going up the steepest hill it can manage, laden with bricks, whilst towing a tractor. Much greater drain and all the time. I love Torqueedo motors and Silent Yachts, but nobody is about to be replacing fumes-at-sea any time soon.

@@darthkek1953 Thtas why you dont use batteries but tapp ZPE like Tesla and t Henry Mory did. Telsa impulse arc distruptor was a uni-flow 2 stroke. Also Joeseph Papp invented and built a pulsed plasma 2 stroke closed cycle using inert gas mixture, he was ruthlessly suppressed for it. It seems everyone is hung up on chemical fuels/batteries etc.
