Amazing and lovely vid. Nice to listen to you and your being modest which I appreciate very very much! It reminds me a bit of the working system of a L jetronic that I had on a buddy’s early BMW E30 323i. Not the e21, which was K jet, but e30 L jet. Is this correct? The “early version of the crank position sensor” as shown in the video is also there on the L jet if memory serves correctly. Being passionate about classic cars, here’s a new subscription! Cheers from Belgium!
Thank you so much! I'm.really happy that you enjoy it! My first car had L-jetronic on it, it was a 1985 Alfa Romeo Spider. It was a good system too, I found it to work well.
Hands down the best explanation with visual aid of the Bosch D-Jetronic system on TH-cam. I found this channel from XJ Jesse and i absolutely love the quality content. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.
Adam. Another excellent video - very informative - I loved the practical demonstration of disconnecting the sensor below the throttle body to show how the engine bogs down under acceleration. Peter
Thank you for this video Adam, I found the whole thing fascinating, I am completely clueless about fuel injection, most of my cars have been earlier carb models. I would be thrilled if you were to make a second series in the future
Thank you for your kind comment! I just uploaded the second part of the series. Hope you like that one too! I hope to get the chance to work on a carb V12 sometime soon
I also add the very important info that the injectors are working on 3 volts , the sistem with trigger points. So.,don t apply 12 volts when cleaning, because you can burn the coil. Great vid btw , i love D Jetronic ,and now i have on the table a nice Benz 300 SEL /9 3.5 i have to bring back to flight Cheers mate!✌️🥇😎🌞
I would love a detailed setup video of D Jetronic. One bank of my car is running rich at cold but mostly clears up when up to temp. Great vid as always, keep em coming, they are a great help to me. 👏
Hello Adam.I would like to see in more detail how to trouble shoot problems on the car and to tune it. Also where to purchase the water Temp., and intake air temp. Sensors.. Where do I send mu map valve to get fixed with Bosch.
Hi Adam, I've been binge watching your V12 videos. Great information!! As you know I am restoring a 72 XJ6, but I also have a 1971 XJ that is missing an engine and tranny. I have a lead on a V12 from a 1976 Jag and thinking I might pair it with a manual tranny and upgrade the fuel injection to a modern ITB system controlled by a MegaSquirt or similar. What would be your thoughts? Any warnings or things to look out for regarding the engine? Cheers.
I am coming back to review the video. I was having difficulties on identifying the fuel injection system on an m30 BMW engine. I am 100% sure that ignition is not controlled by the ecu. Only a signal from the distributor for telling engine speed and thus how many and when which quantity of fuel needs to be injected. However, I am not sure whether it is Djet or Ljet... Edit: wrote this before rewatching. Now that I am proceeding in the video, as you start talking about the magnet of the rotor arm, it even confuses me more. And how are they fired in a d jetronic? Each one separately when the injection is needed or?
you should have consulted with harry at harrys garage who gave up on his after rebuilding so much of it! he was probably a bad sensor or stuck injector away from it all working !!
I have a 1986 6cyl 3.6 jaguar xjs . The problem is when slowing down when engine speed comes down to 1300rpm the engine switches on & of rapidly causing the car to rudder. I am told that it is because the inlet manifold vacuum is low although engine runs fine & the ecu needs modification to cope with that. Have you any info on this mod.
Thank you so much Adam I watch the fuel rail pictorial mine was leaking and I just put hose clamps on it not good I need to redo it but then the Jaguar quit running I think it's the fuel pump I can't seem to find it it's a 1990 xjs 12 I love the car I don't have a book I need a book also I'm not a mechanic just a parts changer with passion thanks for all your help
Great video. Worries me what we will do when these ECU’s die and can’t be replaced. I have an ‘86 XJSC V12. Thanks again! Love the vids. Nick Melbourne, Australia
I think there will always be someone around with the knowledge to rebuild them. I think it would be fun to develop a modern substitute that looks just like the original. Thank you for watching Nick!
Great Video. I have a Bunch of Djetronic parts, ready for when they fail. Question i have is what is the Model of that AIRCON compresser? I want to use a sanden like that rather then the New A6

Adam...Very concise easy to understand video! You are hitting a homerun so far!!!!! Yes, part 2!
Thank you Richard! Stay tuned for part 2 :)

Brilliant!
I would never have imagined these had an air intake temperature sensor!

Glad it was helpful!

Thank you!
Yes that is a good point, I will mention it in a future video on the injectors.
That's a fantastic car! How's it going?
I would love a detailed setup video of D Jetronic. One bank of my car is running rich at cold but mostly clears up when up to temp. Great vid as always, keep em coming, they are a great help to me. 👏
Mine did a similar thing but only once it was warm. It was also richer on one bank then. Thank you for the support!
The Bosch D Jetronic was brought to.the market in 1967 , and was mounted first on the VW 1300 Typ 3 and Porsche 914 😊
It's a very old system. It's great it still works today!
Thanks, that was extremely helpful! And yes please, about troubleshooting and tuning.
Thank you! I've had a great response so far, there will be a part 2 of this video. A more detailed look at getting them to run right.
thx for that great overview. helpful and easy to understand. would love to have a V12 Jag...its on the wishlist!
Another execellent video!
Looks like a good video about my 914 2.0
Hello Adam.I would like to see in more detail how to trouble shoot problems on the car and to tune it.

The ECU is an old analog computer. Easy to understand and repair if you have the drawings.
Yesssss dancing hearts
I love D Jet
This system is so much more modern compared to the later k-Jetronic.
It’s really is! I never understood why they developed K-Jetronic

Hi Jeff! Send me an email and we can talk more about this. There are a few aftermarket fuel injection systems that could work for you

Thanks for a great vid. Is there a way to test the MAP ?

Used also in the Lancia 2000HF.
This system is in my 1971 Saab 99e.

Do you hear the pump priming when you turn the key to the 'on' position?
Got a link to a good bang for buck fuel pressure regulator mate?
Great video. Worries me what we will do when these ECU’s die and can’t be replaced.

Grazie.
Any chance you know why the contemporary Ferraris lost so much power when going to injection?
Maybe stickter emissions and cats? Or maybe the was HP was measured changed. For British cars they changed the way the measure HP around that time

It's a Sanden SD7H15 that I got in a kit from Fen Air. I have sent you link on Instagram also. Thanks for watching!
Living With A Classic Awesome thank you!!!!
Describe 3.6 1986 6cy fuel system & faults please.
8:24 copper Beryllium
What about an 87 XJS V12
It uses a different fuel system developed by Lucas. The basics are similar but it works differently
Thnx for replying
Please the HE System too!
I had plans on filming that in the future but your comment made me film it this weekend. Hope that you enjoy part 1 which is up now
It's a Bosch system, but the parts say "Lucas", not Bosch. Huh?
Who are the thumb downers? They must be really strange people.
