Great video!! All those little islands are spoil islands from when they dredged the boat channel after WW2. There is one about every 1000 yards. I walked to the new pass a couple weeks ago from North Beach and the gulf was flat that day so the water flowing through the pass was super clear. I went there last Tuesday in my little skiff and brought the snorkel gear with me, but there was a NW wind pushing up some surf so the water was disappointingly cloudy. I need to start doing some overnight trips like this.
Ah, spoil islands makes sense, thanks for that bit of info, they look like great camping spots for the future ;). I bet the new pass would be a cool spot to snorkel too, I'm sure there's tons of shells and teeth to find in there
Thanks, It was cool to go from the causeway full of tourists to bring all alone out there. It was a great trip that I'll do again, I'm glad you enjoyed it
Fun to watch. I'm going to have to get out there overnight on my kayak soon. Maybe after rainy season is over and it cools off a little! Thanks for sharing. It would be fun to meet up if you make it down to the Port Charlotte area.
Yeah, the weather plays a huge part in the comfort of it all, it's hard to fall asleep at night when it's 90 degrees and muggy :). It would be fun to meet up and do a trip together, Port Charlotte is a little bit of a drive, but not outside my circle of adventuring
Great video! I'm familiar with those areas. I've also paddled the mangroves around Gandy Blvd and Wheedon Island in St. Petersburg. Love both of those camping meals. Keep up the good work. Hopefully the subs and watch hours will climb with your consistency uploading your uploads.
I've got Tampa Bay on my hit list, might have to swing up to those spots and check them out :). Thanks for the words of encouragement on the Chanel. Each video I make I learn a little bit more. Hopefully my video editing quality gets refined soon too. Where is your next adventure? I'm thinking of the Silver River for me :)
@@sailingslowmotion I'm currently editing a video from paddling Newtown Creek in NYC. It's an interesting urban industrial area with the Manhattan skyline in the background. You should def. go to the Silver River / Silver Springs State Park.
Id love to see a video of you taking while showing screenshots of google maps talking about where you been and where you want to go, maybe that’s a video idea for a realllly rainy day! Another awesome spot in this trip, beautiful! Safe travels my guy 💯
That's a great idea! I'll try to incorporate that into my videos. I kinda did that on my Okeechobee video for just a few seconds but I hear ya, having a map of Florida and giving past and future trips laid out would be pretty cool
No notes. The pass created by the storm is a potential play spot. Take a lesson on sea kayak surfing, then bring a friend and a helmet! Everything on a paddle board is a long way to go.
I did see a guy in an Epic kayak run through the pass in the morning, looked like fun, and you're right, it would be a good place to practice, it's fairly long, has a little bend for navigating and shallow enough to stand up in and drag a flooded kayak to shore. I'll have to do that sooner rather than later.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment and I'm glad you like them, more to come :)
Neat video. I have always wanted to go there. Love riding thru the mangroves with you.

That will be a cool video, I'm looking forward to watching it. A NYC video should be a real hit 😁
@sailingslowmotion my new Urban kayaking video is uploaded. Hope you'll check it out.
Heck yeah, I'll check it out here in a few minutes 😃
