I just moved my seven dogs and to a bay house in a different state. I even owned this house for two years before I moved and it was hard. I questioned myself several times during the renovation and felt bad for my dogs. Now we are finally settled after 4 months and life is almost back to normal! Hang in there! You all are doing great! Do it all while you are young! God Bless!

Thank you! They are my life! I foster dog and have 6 Great Pyrenees and one shepherd. They keep me going! Hang in there! Spain is amazing! We always visit Estepona and Malaga. We have even considered retiring there in 10 years.
Hi Lou, I just stumbled on your channel and already a big fan of your content. I’m so glad you shared this, the good and bad parts of moving and apartment hunting. I’m from the US and have been dreaming of moving to Barcelona as I have stayed there for a couple of months during lock down and you are right so many romanticise moving to another country and it’s really not that easy or doable for some, I have two kitties and a lot has kept me where I’m at because there’s a lot of blocks and things to prepare for, thank you for being so transparent and best of luck to you and yours and can’t wait to continue watching you grow ❤😊

I loved the first appartment, but I also love the one you actually got! That bidding war is crazy for rentals.

Moving is so hard, especially to another country and the first few months are the hardest until you know the area and find your daily routine
Everything always happens for a reason and you guys were ment to get that apartment and it was my favorite from all the options you showed in your vlog so I'm really happy for the both of you

LOVE the place you chose! I'm a real estate agent in Barcelona and know how overwhelming it can be to find (and get) a place. If you ever need anything in the city feel free to DM me, as I also know that as amazing as this place is, it can be hard to feel established/meet people. Also, I recommend Wallapop for beautiful and cheap antique pieces. You reaaaally have to look through all the things posted but can definitely find little treasures!

Beautiful apartment and furniture, I get you 100% about all the ups and downs of a moving to another continent, I felt the same last year when I moved to Spain. You are so blessed by not having air conditioning in your apartment because the power service bill is horrendous, the bigger the apartment the higher the bill, I have to limit the use of the washing machine and dryer to saturdays only when the cost of the electricity is the lowest and I still end up paying around 300 euros a month for an 85 square meter apartment.

"touristic" is not a word used by English speakers. It is called a "tourist area" if it is an area popular with tourists, or "touristy" if it is overpopulated with tourists.
I adore the architecture in the centre/eixample, but I prefer living in the upper diagonal area. ( pedralbes, Sarria, Tres Torres ) We don't have the beautiful, typical Barcelona architecture but I love my neighbourhood, it's so quiet and safe. Good luck and welcome to Bcn! :)

Hey Lou! I understand that apartment hunting can be very very stressful. I went through the same thing 2 months ago in the UK. So stressed I had breakouts 😂. I also had a lot of breakdowns and thought that moving to the UK is a mistake too. But I'm so glad that u have an apartment now and it's gorgeous!

I made the mistake of moving to a flat without AC and my flat has nowhere near as much light as yours so be prepared for super super hot summer months! Also, the winter can be ultra cold in the older flats where you might not have heating 😂

Good luck in Barcelona so happy it all worked out for you two , renting here in the US isn’t any better rent is sooooo high in my area of Florida and not much out there that most ppl can afford even more since Hurricane Ian. & some places don’t accept pets , I can’t wait to see your beautiful Apt. decorated. People were soooo mean about the “renting with a dog is impossible” like it made no sense, there’s so many family’s with dogs and an adult well trained dog shouldn’t be an issue 😕

When I moved into my little house, I furnished it piece by piece as I found them and paid cash for them. It was a good move because I found I changed my mind, and taste, as I was ready to buy each item.
Exactly!!! So many things come and go in my head so I want to get only the ones I know for sure I will love for many many years and that takes time
Never heard about real estate agents that don’t respond! That’s their bussiness😂. But I’m in 🇳🇴and things are both more organised. And then there are proper laws. If you want to rent out, don’t play with people.
Some great options hopefully one you love works out. Personally the kitchen is a big deal 😁. I love eating out but love cooking and baking too. IKEA to the rescue. Glad to hear it went so well.
Kitchen was so important for us! The apartment we got has a big one but we need to add some decorations to it 😂

Fond memories for me there. I used to live in a beautiful apartment Sant Gervasi with the best landlady/owner. She wanted me to marry her son. 😆 Loved it! ❤ I was the only caramel skinned Puerto Rican there, 🤣😂 and no one looked like me, but soooo many people were kind and I made so many friends. Good times.
Hey Lou! If you ever plan on visiting the Netherlands (Holland/Amsterdam), I’d love to meet up! Went to Barcelona couple of months ago, and for burgers I would deffff check out this place called “The Burger Maker”. Not a super fancy restaurant or anything, but absolutely amazing burgers imo!!

I'm so happy for you, Lou!!! I can really relate to your moving experience because my daughter (25y old) moved to The Hague (The Netherlands) at the end of August to study there. No flat so: one week on a air mattress in a flat with 3 female students she didn't met before, 1 week in hotels, ... No flat means no official address means no registration at the municipality of The Hague means no registration number means no new bank account (Visa card refused in stores/supermarkets !?!?!) means MORE daily stress... We registered on several specialised platforms, then selected some flats, then registered on the specific real estate agencies websites (1 registration per flat!!!), ... Never received any answer at all!!! After 2 months, here is my summary: a LOOOT of scammers, a lot of rate holes, a lot of exaggerated rental fees, NO student please! Especially international ones!!! You have to earn AT LEAST (!!!) 3-5 x the rental fees, a LOOOOT of studios without kitchen/wash machine connection/own bathroom/own toilet/opening windows/light, BUT with cigarettes stink, old carpet/bathroom/cooking area, ... My list is not exhaustive. It's stressful and my daughter should concentrate herself on studying and feel comfortable in a private living space. On the top of that, she's alone there and doesn't speak Dutch. Yeah 👍!!! What doesn't break you make you stronger, right?! Anyway, I'm happy about your successfully ended flat's hunt!!! 🤗👍🌞
OMG you have no idea how much I can understand! Here it was the same, nothing available, no apartment no credit card, no apartment no (empadronamiento) so no ID, so no health insurance. It was hell 😂 I’m hoping the best for your daughter 🤍🤍 sending her tons of love and good vibes
