"Don't give a damn about any trumpet playin' band", may they be called Pink Floyd, Beatles, Stones or whoever, no one, I said NO ONE can match this man and his brilliant troupe. Don't care what anybody says.

🎸 Dire Straits isn't just a band, they're a musical journey that transcends time and space. Mark Knopfler's guitar prowess is the stuff of legend, weaving intricate melodies that tug at the heartstrings and transport you to another realm. From the haunting beauty of 'Brothers in Arms' to the energetic swagger of 'Sultans of Swing,' their music is a testament to the power of storytelling through sound. Thank you, Dire Straits, for filling our lives with magic and melody. 🎶

Wow, beautifully said! and so very true, you summed them up perfectly, Mark is of another planet, his playing fills me with so much emotion, even after all these years, I still get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye with his story telling and solos ❤

He’s just the best guitarist for me nobody sounds like he does and it’s my favourite guitar sound. He’s also one of the best songwriters ever.

Mark Knopfler understands what few guitarists do. It’s not about how loud you play or “shredding”. It’s about tone, rhythm, feel, conveying emotion. And Mark Knopfler does this perfectly in his own way across many different styles and guitars

I had the privilege of seeing them live on 3 occasions- every gig the same musicianship- flawless. This was an awesome performance with everyone on stage in perfect harmony. Guy and Alan completing the picture. Loved seeing Jack Sonni up there too- right in the pocket! Terry’s drums were big, but it gave the set a really full sound. On the outro, the group sounded immense, John Illsley’s bassline was perfect. Loved the storyline- I visited the Spanish City a couple of times with my parents many years ago, and I never forgot it. Definitely brought a tear on, when it got to the reminiscence, before they started the outro. This was a masterclass in composition and performance by the tightest band on stage. It won’t be matched again! RIP Jack Sonni❤

The brilliant Mark Knopfler. This is my favourite live performance of any song by any band ever.

I'm probably with you on that but that kind of proclamation will require some further reflection. For sure, the guitar solo that is the center of the extended outro is my favorite guitar solo of all time and this is my favorite Dire Straits song going back to its original studio release. For 40+ years I have not been able to get through any performance of this song with dry eyes, but this one from Wembley is the best live version and the version that moves me the most is the studio version.
I feel devastated now at the age of 71 that I never managed to get to one of their live performances. Damn rat race living obliterates a person's options. Now retired, if Mark Knopfler were to get a band together and perform the Dire Straits classics live this week in any part of the world, I would get on a plane in Los Angeles and be there.

He must have been in an unusual place in his head when he did this. Not many people get to experience that.

The guy playing guitar, Mark Knopfler, has a new album coming out in April. He's still making music in his seventies and still has his distinct emotive sound. Dire Straits, while epic, was brief compared to his solo career, also epic.

When you hear a masterpiece, the best reaction is to just listen and take it in, just like you did, and we did. Stopping it to tell us how good it is, when we are also listening is redundant. These songs have a progression and a buildup that when interrupted lose the momentum of the song, thus diminishing the experience. We want to experience this with you and the fact that you are as rapt as we are, is all that is needed for a great reaction.

This is a masterpiece (like all songs from the Dire Straits), a musical and emotional journey. In this performance I love how all instruments are in harmony and enhance Mark’s nostalgic storytelling and musical genious... Mark always got inspiration to write from daily life events he would witness or live, then he would write masterpieces enhancing every unique skill his band musicians owned and would deliver us a hell of a ride. Thank you for reacting to the best band ever, with top musicians, and to one of their best songs. If you want to cry also listen to Brothers in Arms.

I remember meeting some Algerians in France back in the '80s. They were living in the same apartment block as me and our paths crossed occasionally. I had my guitar with me and they overheard me learning to play this. One of them called him 'God's Guitar'.
Whatever it is, that 'grace' seldom seems to last long, but when he had it, it was really something.
