    Idk how I went this long without a winder and swift! I think winding cakes is my new favorite hobby 🤠

    If you ever want to un-cake your yarn, you can also re-wind it into a haink using the swift. I keep the stuff caked that I'll use soon but find myself pretty regularly re-hainking stuff when I change my mind. Just in case you didn't know! Your space looks awesome and makes me want to turn my (never used) small gym space into a craft room 😬

      @@WellLovedKnits yeah! The little spinny handle thing at the top of the swift can be used to wind them back up. Very handy!

      Thank you! I just got a set, caked up a sweater from the thrift store, and realized I better hank it to wash it to relax the fibers before I cake it up! Cashmere!

    Looove my swift and ball winder. Almost all the yarn I buy now is in hanks. Just as a tip for anyone wanting to hold 2 strands of the same yarn doubled, you can pull a strand from the center and from the outside of the same cake, and then you have less to transport or monitor when you're knitting. I only learnt this a month or two ago, and it's been a game changer.

    Love your wooden ball winder and swift, looks much sturdier than mine which is made of plastic and metal.
    When I first got my ball winder and swift I turned all my yarns into a cake in one day and at the end of the day I don't have any more yarn to wind. The very next day I turned my target to old sweater, that's never being use because it's too hot here but I bought it anyway and my kids old old sweaters too. I unravel them into many cakes. That's how fun it is😂.

    I couch with a lot of yarn, the winder and swift are the best tools . Pulling from the centre evens out the drag and makes couching so much more even and faster. Wound balls has made my crochet work faster too, no chasing yarn across the floor. Love it.

    • @WellLovedKnits
      @WellLovedKnits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've seen some knitters on YT use that winder but it's so cool to see how you start using it for beginners like me! I guess when I start buying twist, hand-made yarns like that, I will buy my own swift and winder one day... that looks really COOL!
    P.S. but as a beginner who just completed one bottom-up and started my first top-down, I am not ready to unravel my projects yet... but I hear it's destiny (or a hobby) for knitters ;)

      I can say that a winder is great for yarn that is already wound into those oval balls, it is still much easier to knit from and helps your tension!

    I’m so glad you got one!! I can’t even imagine doing it by hand 😭 but I admit I did t invest in a set as nice as yours and I’m slightly jealous! Lol love that you keep your small tools and bits in a tin! I keep mine in an old oxy clean container. Maybe it’s time to find some paint or something to make mine a little cuter 😅I also just got vogue knitting book and I’m so in love with it. I also got it to learn bee cast on and cast off methods and it only took me 5 min to learn a cast on I’d been trying to learn from TH-cam vids for years. A super solid purchase. Let me know how you like 52 weeks of socks. I saw that too but I have a couple sock patterns already and wasn’t sure a big book like that was a god investment or just using up space. Great video! Can’t wait till next sundays!

      Love saving chocolate boxes and cookie tins for random storage 😁 if you like a lot of cables or lace on socks you will love this book! I am not crazy about all the patterns, but I have a few I want to make so the purchase was worth it.

    I love this kind of videos! I have a question for you: As a beginner I wonder if the Vogue knitting book would be good for me to learn how to knit or is it more for more experienced knitters? Got really excited when you showed the book but since it is rather expensive I wanted to research first! Keep doing what you do, you're great! 😊

    Loved the video! I just got my yarn winder and swift! This makes me knit more than I do before!
    I was just wondering, the socks that you showed with the other ufos, is there a specific pattern that you followed? I love how the toe is shaped and also the heel shape. If possible, may I have the information on the pattern, please? Thanks and I still enjoy your videos!
