Hi @kjs.4904, In most cases, neither threaded nor weldneck flanges are used, but blind flanges. An exception are screw-welded flange protection tubes type TW10-S, where threaded flanges are used.
Dear @oliviahirst9138, The weight of a thermowell and the weight of an thermometer, thermocouple or resistance thermometer, are completely independent of each other. You can combine a quite light thermowell with a quite heavy thermometer or vice versa, and both combinations are a good engineering design. Essential for a good engineered thermometer assembly is the perfect dimensional design of all components, not the weight of the thermowell and the thermocouple.
Do you use threaded or weldneck flange?

Are thermowells lighter than thermocouples?
