On one hand you don't insult someone's parenting but it's tricky here when Linda clearly loves Shirley's son and would have heard it all from Mick, how hurt he was by his mother and felt abandoned and as his wife any woman out there doesn't like the in laws if they've treated their husband terribly so she would hate Shirley for it and by the sounds of it she's judged her for it too.
Although Linda has been asking to be roughed up for a while, I'm glad she got a slap on Shirley. She's been willing Linda to fail the whole time she's been on the square. It also made me like Shirley less when she said she was jealous of Mick's relationship with Linda, as if you'd be horrible to your child's partner based on that.
