  • Learn how to make these darling beaded snowflake ornaments! These are quick little ornaments to make, are great for kids to do and you can make several for just a few bucks. The idea comes from an Etsy listing for vintage ornaments* and I believe they may have been a Bucilla kit years ago although I can't find info on them. Anyway, here is how to make them...
    Supplies:
    12" pipe cleaners
    (26) 8mm faceted acrylic round beads
    (12) acrylic tri-beads
    (8) 18mm acrylic 'starflake' beads in color A
    (6) 18mm acrylic 'starflake' beads in color B
    super glue or nail glue
    eye pins (or paperclips)
    jewelry or needle nose pliers
    wire cutters or strong scissors
    monofilament or clear sewing thread
*The original Etsy listing is long expired but can still be found here: www.etsy.com/l...

I did this tutorial a year ago and made 41 as gifts for work and family. They loved them. I did light amethyst. This year I am doing the blue he has at the start of the video. I've been hot gluing a clear rhinestone big enough to cover the middle. I don't have his patience but his idea for the middle is beautiful.

I love these, I remember my grandparents and my mama having them when I was little! Once we have space for an actual tree, I'm going to come back to this and make some!

+swingonsight Hope you enjoy!! I know the idea for these has been around awhile but not many people make these kitschy ornaments anymore. I still love them because they remind me of my childhood, LOL!!

My mom had a "bead business" when I was little. It's in quotes because that's what she called her bags O' beads. She was able supplement her Christmas fund for her 5 mangy kids by making and selling bead ornaments. I remember making these snowflakes and candy canes with her. I'm sure I was enlisted as a worker but those are some of my fondest memories of Christmas. Thanks so much for showing a tutorial on this.

Oh my gosh! New subscriber and came across this. My Aunt Lucille use to make and give these away. Such a great memory of thinking of her every time I see one. I hope to make some for our tree!

I made the kissing balls like that years ago where you top it with a ribbon bow a monofilment for hanger and where you could put mistletoe in the middle or just hang on your tree. So nice to see you reviving this craft.

Can't wait to make these. Love your videos. I made some pine cone ornaments inspired by your video on the other channel last year and they were a big hit as gifts. I was hoping you'd be making more craft videos so I was excited to see you did! I appreciate the work you put into them!

+Sharon Carlson Thank you so much! It takes awhile to get a video put together which is why I don't do many of them but I hope to have another handful or so this season.

Where do you buy your beads? My local hobby stores did not have a very good selection of colors.

Where did you get the beads? And about how much?

    • @croutoncrafts
      @croutoncrafts  8 ปีที่แล้ว

+burplecow I got them from my local Ben Franklin but JoAnns, Hancock, Michael's and Hobby Lobby also sell them. The starflake beads and 8mm beads were $1.99 each and the tri beads were $.69. You may find that the big box crafts stores are more expensive because they sell larger packs of beads but more beads means more ornaments. ;-)

+Crouton Crafts Thank you! I live in a dinky town of 3000 people, would have to travel 80 miles round trip to those stores, will try Walmart first, they are only 15 lol, hmm wonder what Amazon might have

+burplecow Nicole makes these beads, they are located in Mt. Laurel, N.J. and perhaps you could look them up online to order their Faceted Crystal Beads. Good luck.

Don't know if you're ever reading this (or anyone else), but.... could you link me to a webshop that ships to Europe and that sells those beads?
I suck at searching the internet. TIA
