A very nice, easy to follow, thorough demonstration of how to install scale wooden decks. I particularly appreciated the "problem solving" tips. I have installed a few scale wooden decks and I've had mixed results, but now, after watching your excellent video, I am ready to attempt a few more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. Well done, well done indeed.

Many thanks. I subscribed quite a while ago after the Mighty TH-cam Algorithm presented your finished models. I never actually knew you did guidance. This is great. I just bought my first wooden deck for the Graf Spee yesterday.

The completed model videos perform much better than the build series videos. I consider them to be a resume of sorts.
Good luck with your Graf Spee. If you have questions don't hesitate to ask.

Well done. I've had issues with wooden decks not staying down so I've now started putting gloss clear on the plastic and then using a thin coat of slow cure wood glue. Seems to have fixed the problem. I also find that Pontos decks seem more flimsy/delicate that other aftermarket decks. Good fit, just very delicate.

Nice work, I usually apply Ammo white glue to the deck or wooden deck as the glue provided at times is insufficient

Great video and good explanation! I saw Jason from Modelkitstuff using a method where he bended the decks over the longitudinal ax to slide them smoothly over the barbettes. I have never tried that myself though.

I will look up that video, I haven't seen it.

@@DavidsShips Unfortunately Jasons whole Warspite series (in which I saw that technique) has been taken offline for now

Thank you for your video. I found an intersting method of applying timber decks at Mr Brovo's Workshop "Timber deck how to lay it.....4 different ways" just for your interest

Great video! I have a few ships in my stash and I bought some wooden decks for them. It will be the first time I will be attempting this. I've seen other people use glue when installing the decks. Is this really necessary?

I have found the adhesive backing to be sufficient. In a few occasions, shortly after installation, the deck lifted so I reglued it with CA glue. Other than in those cases, I don't think glue is necessary.

What has been your experience with the durability of wood deck on a model several years old. Do they ever come loose, shrink or split with time. Since wood moves I’ve wondered how they hold up over time. Thanks

The oldest wooden deck that I have was installed in early 2015 onto my Yamato model, it hasn't given any problems. The second oldest is on HMS Prince of Wales, it is also still as good as the day it was installed. I can say the same for Nagato, Richelieu, and Roma.
The only issues that I have had were soon after installation, in some areas they lifted. In those cases I used CA glue to stick them down again.

Thanks for your response, I’ve been reluctant to try wood decks, but I’ll give them a try. Enjoy your videos and commentary.@@DavidsShips

First l was thinking no way, I’ll paint the deck, then you said that you can do some repositioning, and now l’m thinking maybe l will give it a try.

Just don't press it down. Loosely position it and once you are happy with how it is sitting press it down. Once pressed on it will be difficult to remove.
