I can think of no other singer of Gedda's stature who had such a perfect mastery of so many languages. His French, his Italian, his English...all impeccable. (I don't have the credentials to express an opinion regarding other languages, such as German and Russian; but I'll wager that he was equally competent in those tongues, too.)
