I'm so curious about this even if it should be obvious; what happens to the wax you scrape and put back in the liquid? Does it melt down again? Have you ever had it mix colors?

yes it does melt. that wax is hot!
it also alters the color (slightly) to make it more to the correct color! that's why some white could go into blue, for example, to make it lighter!
