Last year when I went to Paris, I saw the Eiffel Tower. It was about midnight and my family and I went to a cafe right near it. As I was looking around I saw photographs of the Eiffel Tower being built. It was amazing and they were actual photographs taken at the time. I will never forget that experience of going to London & Paris!! Great animation
It is very funny that the people of Paris did not want the Eiffel Tower, they said it was ugly, and now it is one of the most beautiful things in the world and the most touristic and representative of France and I dare say that from Europe
Great animation of the Eiffel Tower, Myles. Definitely an engineering marvel and you have captured that every step of the way. I was there in 2015 so can appreciate all the details you have included. When I first arrived at the site, my first reaction was, "This is way bigger than I imagined it to be!" You could put an entire trailer park at the base of the tower--not that that's going to happen. And to think it held the title of the tallest building for 41 years. Cheers, Darryl
What bridge you talk about with this stupid comment of yours, believing being a comedian? For Your Information from 1863 to 1889 (some months before Eiffel Tower was completed) Italy had the record of the tallest building in the world, the Mole Antonelliana in Turin, with an height of 167,50 meters, and once Tour Eiffel was completed, Mole Antonelliana still kept the record as a masonry building, till 1908... 😀😎😘

Dustman00 Sure not. Its genesis is very curious and complicated and deserves a description. Project underwent many stops as long as building was conceived as the greatest sinagogue in Italy after Unification of the Country but continue raising of the costs (the Mole was built on a ground that required consolidation) enraged jewish community that stopped construction a first time in 1869 when building was 70 meters high. The Municipality of Turin bought the project from jewish community and donated them another site to build the sinagogue in order to aim the building destination as a Museum of Risorgimento (Indipendence Resurgency of Italy), and another step was made till 1884 for Turin General Exhibit of all Italy Industrial Products when building reached 90 meters height, and used as observatory point for the visitors, and in 1887 was raised again upto 113 meters. This year an earthquake caused various damages to the construction yard but not to monument, and imposed again reinforcements to the ground. Building reached 161,90m tall first months of 1889. The statue on top that made it reach 167,50 meters was added april 10 of 1889. The architect Antonelli who was also politician and various times Deputee in Italian Parliament was the principal player in the long run to complete the project as long as he helped collect from times to times the money needed for the building and aged 90 years old he still supervised project even climbing on top of it on a precarious elevator used to lift the masonry materials... He was very proud of his job of consolidating so well the ground that it was capable to sustain all that building weight. He died in 1888 few months before Mole Antonelliana being completed and his son completed father masterpiece. He was nicknamed in memoriam "Antonelli the Stone Hearted"... And maybe he really was... The Mole Antonelliana nowadays is the site of one of the biggest museums of Cinema in the world.

La tour faisait 300 mètres à sa construction en 1889. Oui, au cours des années suivantes, les ingénieurs ont ajouté l’antenne radio et télévision, pour une hauteur totale de 324 mètres.
Many, suspicious of the up-and-coming technical progress of the late 19th century, rested instead on comfortable (to them) tradition. Rather short-sighted imo. If I’m being honest, though, I am burdened by nostalgia myself. Contradictory, I know. Ha

Your animation of how the Tower just appears out of nothing is the same animation they give us with their pictures. They had motion pictures then, but yet not one 5 second clip. None of the pictures show construction equipment setting anything into place. No trucks, crane's no shots pouring the concrete absolutely nothing to suggest that, a 150 to 300 people did any of this. A lot of rivet's, but not one shot of one of them actually heating up a rivet.. let alone pounding into to place. It's a joke to play it off as though you know how to smelt down iron that never rusts. Why wasn't the Golden Gate Bridge not using the same iron as the unpainted Eiffel Tower? Folk's this is a bunch of Jonny Come Lately's trying to except something not their's. The pictures are all vanilla skies blocking out and putting in things not wanting to be seen. The broad pristine road's, bridge's, water way's, and canals. Then talking a short 20 year's later about tearing down that Tower.. I'm mean WTF.
