    Who would have thought, in 1970, that in 2012 the only surviving Wilson brother would be Brian?

  • @titostacos

    Brian when he was clinically depressed, Belushi when he was alive, Mike Love when he thought he was Mick Jagger, and So Cal when it was still awesome...

    • @iamcasihart
      @iamcasihart 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Indeed...but to be fair, SoCal is still fucking glorious. I lived in El Segundo, Redondo Beach (worked in Hermosa) and in Long Beach (over 10 years).
      There's good & bad, but for a gal who grew up in a small town in Western Kentucky, SoCal was & will forever be the only place that ever felt like home, like magic, like it was so alive. I moved from there 8 years ago, and I miss it every single day.

      RIP Carl and Dennis Wilson
      Brian, you're the reason why I to continue to be a musician because music is a therapy for my conditions and have friends, family and associates supporting me to continue with life. :)

    Sorry not sorry.
    Also don't know why people assume the Brian was the only beach boy who surfed. The late Dennis Wilson was a avid surfer.
    I do feel for Brian he was clearly clinically depressed. Probably from years of abuse from his overbearing father Murray.
    He probably had what they call now PTSD.
    But wow what a set of pipes ... Those notes he hit. On point with oressision.
    Yes I saw them live many years ago. Brain thankfully was on your with them.
    Hearing him sing was totally mind blowing.
    And at least he's not up himself like Mike Love is. Carl was lovely . Wish I could have seen their early shows.

    Does ANYONE KNOW WHO THAT IS PLAYING THE BASS in that LIVE CLIP of the band? He looks a lot like Brian, who did occasionally sit‐in with the band live, but Brian mostly played the Grand Piano when he did play live, after his so‐called "In My Room" period! Just wondering, cause he looks a lot like how Brian used to play the Bass in the early 60's live clips?

    I remember watching this the first time it aired...it was funny..still is..hard to believe my mom would let me play at the beach[we lived right on Imperial Beach in the 1950s] when I was only 2-3 years old...she would look out the window from time to time to see if I was okey...was she hoping I would drown my ass! in the 60s she mighta wished a few times!HA!Different times...I do remember the waves knocking me down and gently pushing me back on shore..I thought it was great fun!.

    I wish that were the case, but if you compare his 76 interviews to any after 1980 its evident that Dr.Landy crushed whatever was left of Brian with psychotropic drugs. compare Brian 66 to 76 to anything post 1980, and the most normal intelligent sounding will always be 66. Although he has progressed each year it seems since the early 90s after he left Dr.Landy.

    • @KeizerHedorah
      @KeizerHedorah ปีที่แล้ว

      @marguskiis7711 Nope totally different people and situations, Syd was such a rapid decline that by the end of like 1 year he went from a creative powerhouse leader not only in his band but in music in general to a guy who would stand on stage motionless and wouldn't create with his band anymore. While Brian basically went from a business and creative juggernaut, to a recluse that still wrote great music for the next 10 years.

    • @marguskiis7711
      @marguskiis7711 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KeizerHedorah Not so different at all. Both had untreated schizophrenia. Both acted very similar way during the same timeline. Both were not able to perform live but were able to do the studio work. Unlike Pink Floyd there wasn´t a very good alternative for Brian in BB, so they kept working with him in studio. In Pink Floyd, Waters tooks over all the control and songwriting as soon as possible. Syd was able to write songs later too and released two solo albums. He was recording his third album in Abbey Road as late as 1974. His decline was pretty similar like Brian`s. He just stayed to his apartement, spent time eating and watching TV for years. But Brian had a wife and brothers, who called Dr. Landy. Syd had not.

    Brian Wilson has been discussed , documented and so on but I’m not sure we will ever receive an accurate portrayal of him. For example if he was as messed up as so many have claimed he would’ve been gone by now of misadventure or self destruction. Also though it’s real that he has issues he doesn’t do so bad in interviews, he’s able to have conversation and so on. I guess my point is when someone is famous and a recluse people pile on and emphasize the negative. It’s just a shame really because it really shows how shitty people are.

    The video is making fun of him for being bed ridden as he was in the mid 70's.
    Bruce Johnston, Mike Love and Dennis Wilson were the only members of The Beach Boys who actually knew how to surf.
