I love that Lincoln answered honestly, if you aren't prepared to be disappointed don't ask the question. It always gets me how the wife of the first born male is supposed to be a slave for tge mother-in-law, what century are they living in. My mother in law wasn't the best but she never tried treating me like a slave, which is just as well as I'd of soon told her where to get off.
My late ex-mil kept cutting down my ex's oldest brother's wife. Thing is, my oldest ex-sil when she was alive. She was also physically disabled. And that was why our husbands' mother kept cutting her down. I got cut down. But that was due to me being of a different Christian religion at that time.
I used to drive 2-1/2 hours with two daughters, arrive late but stop at the store to get dad’s favorite desserts like cakes, pies, or whatever they had. Sure, could’ve made and brought something, but fresh and his favorites. Besides, desserts aren’t late 😂
If I ever get married, since I'm no contact with my family, I plan to set the boundary that I will not help fund/support their family. IF I'm compelled to help by situation or choice, their in-laws must sign an agreement that any abuse or bad talking about me will result in 100% withdrawal of any support indefinitely. I would only have it documented for 2 reasons: 1 upfront reminder that the assistance they get is coming from one or both of us and 2 should they attempt to pull some legal BS to require me to continue support, we had already agreed on the terms and by breaking those terms I will not honor supporting them.
I liked Lincoln's answer to his mom about the sound system. He had been saving for a year and didn't want to spend it on her. Who most likely could pay for herself.
