Basics of Drilling and Petrophysics

This webinar will provide an awareness-level overview of drilling and petrophysics for upstream oil and gas, including drilling from ancient China to Azerbaijan and 19th century USA, before looking at the drilling industry today.
Different drilling units are used for onshore and offshore applications but have essentially the same systems based on identical principles. Downhole tools and equipment with strange names enable the drilling process which produces wells in the shape of an inverted telescope. Advances in directional drilling result in extended reach wells that enable economical and environmentally friendlier developments. Formation evaluation during and after drilling uses basic science and advanced technology to look deeper into the reservoir and uncover its potential.
