Bullay Shah (1680-1757 is more than a sufi. He is subcontinent’s greatest exponent of peace and coexistence. His contempt for the clergy shows how little things have changed in the last 300 years and how the essence, the true spirit of religion, love & goodwill for humankind, has been hijacked by the right-wing fringe. His message simply, is that, the path to understanding the divine starts with looking within. Sharing a kafi by Bullay Shah performed by Abida Parveen which is her most brilliant performance. Have made an attempt at translating this performance and am also sharing alternate translations done by others so that you can enjoy the kafi to the fullest.
