I'm a yank and have been listening to the streets for over 10 years. I don't always understand what mike's saying, but I still appreciate it. a cultural difference is no reason to miss out on good music!
+Michelle Atkinson it's a mixture of British working class poetry and borrowed language/phrases (there's lot's of slices and odd words from all over the British native tongue) you'd never get a Tory saying these things. But this is of course all in my own humble opinion.
I know your post is pretty old but i appreciate this man, someone with an open mind I love that man because theres so few people with that. huge respect to you
Been listening to the Streets since 2006. The way Mike tells his stories on these songs just blows me away. Unbelievable bars and tunes that are catchy as fuck.
i know i never tell her everything about every single day man, i always thinkings loads about her, she the best think that ever happens to me and i dont know what i do without her :D great great lyricss
Theres a reason theres no flow, no compound rhyme, little rhyme. He's confused, paranoid, upset, and off his head on pills. The tunes point is to project that, theres no need for well arranged bars, flow, the delivery is bang on! He has a mad ability to create a story from a beat and lyrics
Such a great album/story, but I've never understood the track order, Get Out of My House totally destroys the vibe of Wouldn't have it any other way, is it supposed to be a different girl? She's sounds safe in the first track and then suddenly is an angry nutter.. :s
It's just like the Led Zepplin album that goes from "I Can't Quit You Baby" straight into "How Many More Times". Sometimes relationships change overnight.
I'm not feeling this album. It's horrible. There is no flow to it. It's more like stop and go talking. Creativity doesn't always equal quality. Add on that he doesn't use compound rhyming, and he doesn't even have skills as an MC, even if this is a concept album.

@@andrewlund8963 What you said x2
The beauty of this album is the fact it perfectly reflects life as a reality rather than romanticising it. Life never runs smoothly. ;-)

Blinded By The Lights - the way his voice tails off as he says "maybe I shouldn't have done the second one..." - he just sounds so lost. Superb.
The Shakespeare of our generation.

No offence Gary, you're a Yank, you just don't get it. America has a completely different flow to it than the UK.

Sorry man, but you soooooo don't get this album.
Gary Bates I love Mike but I see what you mean. Some of it is really jarring even after loads of listens
yeah well he really had skills as an MC, just my opinion
I wonder if Gary Bates gets it yet?
