    Get rid of year 69
    "22, America in terminal stasis
The air's so thick, it's like drowning in molasses
I'm sick and tired of paying these dues
And I'm finally getting hip to the American ruse"

    That's not 100 Club.
It's CKLW-TV Channel 9 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The show was called Swingin' Time. The voice you hear introducing show host Robin Seymour at the end of the song is that of David Compton, who many locals remember as the channels news anchor throughout the '70s.

The clarity of the "Oh no!" backing vocals when nobody else is mic'd up seems to indicate that it was partially mimed if not all. That's the way a lot of TV studio performances roll I reckon. That's because 'rock' has been done to death. It still had teeth in 1969 (and all the way through until roughly the late 90's, in bits), but it has cycled itself out. We're way past due for some new form of revolutionary music, and an accompanying youth movement... and in light of all the shit going down right now the ground has never been more fertile than it is today. And I'm not talking about hip-hop or electronic music either. Those have also been done to death. It's time for something COMPLETELY new and dangerous. A complete break with the past. Our generation probably won't be into it, but that's ok. That's how it should be. The younger people have got to stand up and own it for themselves.

Are these people who leave comments 10-year-olds or just retarded? Anyway, Fred "Sonic" Smith didn't die of "drugs", but of cancer, although he had a severe alcohol "habit". The MC5 will always be one of the best R&R bands ever, because of their music, not because they died, did drugs, lived in dangerous times, were around in 1968, etc... Thanks for posting this

I imagine they believe what they professed, but they were young musicians who stayed in nice hotels and were happily played on little TV bandstands, not freedom fighters with muskets.
