Wow absolutely beautiful Geese flight. Great observation 11:39. Big Like. So cute Swans. Outstanding video and presentation Jane. Full watch. Amazing Owl. Wonderful fox. Lovely weather and sunny day. Thank you so much for sharing this excellent presentation.
I am in love with barnacle geese thanks to you dear Jane, I am fascinated by their sounds, their coloring and gorgeous plumage! That barn owl at 3:39 was amazing and such a fabulous treat as were the foxes. You did a truly phenomenal job capturing them in flight as well as that beautiful barn owl! I hope you are doing well my dear friend and enjoying every possible moment of wildlife and nature that you can.
Hi Heather, they do have stunning plumage don't they. They are very small Geese too, which makes them cuter to look at, especially when mixed with other larger Geese, such as Canada's. I was holding my breath when the Barn Owl appeared and landed on the post so close to me. I was pleased it stayed put a few seconds before the damn dog spooked it. I am still looking around to figure where they may have nested this year. Time will tell. I have been lucky with my exercise time as i have parks and lakes nearby with other decent places locally to take a walk and have a good chance of seeing nice birds and wildlife. Thank you for your sincere comments as always. *Please take care and stay safe my dear friend Heather 💗◕‿◕*
It was very interesting to see how they behave differently in different places! The plain relaxation at the beginning is not observable when the Foxes are closer, and now I see that my guess was not so far from reality! What I missed is that it was You the Fox helper ^ ^! And indirectly You helped the Geese too! By the way, I did not know that different Geese join in flight. I have never see on in my place! Anyway, I liked this well balanced video, with a bit of suspense and a lot of relax especially during the flight scenes. Stay safe and healthy dear Jane, and let's hope that this trial will be overcome soon.
Hi Andrea, yes you almost guessed right on the original video. The Foxes wait until the pair of Lesser Black-Backed Gulls and Magpies show an interest in the food drop and then they realise it is safe to go for it. And although the Geese are not spooked by the Foxes presence, their necks extend and they show a little respect. I am not sure how they would collectively react if a Fox did attack one of them? These Geese have actually added to their numbers with occasional success with breeding in the safety of the zoo and also when in flight there have been odd Barnacle Geese passing over who join the flock and have stayed with them. And it is interesting when other Geese join them as they all get on well and mix together with no problem. The injured Greylag Goose took off with them at the end but it isn't noticeable. I have a feeling he hit the telegraph phone wires when landing. I can't see this virus clearing up anytime soon and I'm sure we are expected to just live with it until they make a vaccination. It will be up to each and every one of us to keep risk to an absolute minimum and stay as safe as possible. Thank you as always for your sincere comment my dear friend *take care and stay safe* Andrea 💗◕‿◕
Amazing scenes Jane!! Can’t understand why the foxes didn’t just go for a goose?!? They were more like sheep dogs lol 😂 very interesting. What was you throwing the bread at ? Loved the barn owl 👍 a great watch thanks
Hi Rosco, I think that had there been a lame Goose amongst the flock then I may have been toying with whether or not to show the carnage if I witnessed it. I would never try and stop it if I did. I would never be able to help a wild Goose if it were injured by a Fox anyway and it would possibly die a slower death, plus the Fox would more than likely just go and kill another bird, meaning that TWO instead of one would die for one meal. The sheepdog comment made me laugh! It was impossible to see from the footage but inside the small area of the food drop, there are 2 or 3 different smaller trails and I was trying to cover it well as I am convinced there are Cubs (not seen any yet this year) and I'm not sure which trail they may use to reach the food drop. I waited over an hour (long-distance) hoping to tempt Cubs into view too. Also, the huge Gulls are more desperate (and wise) and will try and take what they can if the food was left too openly. I see this and should have filmed them. There are other areas to food drop now that horses have been turned out into this field.and they too would eat the food left. I never know what to expect when I check on them. I was laying on the ground when the Barn Owl appeared and then landed on the post unaware I was there. That damn dog barking spooked him! Thank you for your interesting comments and please *take care and stay safe* Rosco 💗◕‿◕
Hi there, I'm pleased that you like the Geese and enjoyed the video. It was a surprise to me too to see them so close and without any conflict. Thank you for your kind comment. *Please take care and stay safe 💗◕‿◕*
Hi Paul, this was one of those 'hard to believe' moments when checking out my local area where I see Foxes regularly. Barnacle Geese are very rare and to see and film them together like this was a thrill. Thanks again for watching and for your kind comment 👍◕‿◕

Hi Wes, 'safety in numbers' came to mind for me when the much bigger Mute Swans actually walked around the Geese. Anything in that field or any close by after dark are in danger of being supper. Mind you, there are now 5 horses turned out in the field for the entire summer, so birds are better protected. Thank you for your comment and please *take care and stay safe* ◕‿◕
The Foxes are slipping into a garden under a fence and taking slices of bread somebody leaves out for whatever grabs it first. there are usually Great Black-backed Gulls that swoop down for it, but often the Foxes are there first. 👍◕‿◕

Between a fox and coyote they would prefer small game or a bowl of dog food....There is always safety in numbers!!
