Our Geo would run, go down the street, then die a few blocks later. I replaced the fuel pump and filter, same issue. When I tapped on the injector as my wife turned the engine over it would run but only if I kept tapping on it. For some who think it might be the injector, clean up the connections to the injector and inspect for any arcing. The process for doing this is pretty much what this person has shown, minus replacing the injector. Good video and hope this may help someone some day.
Thank you for uploading this video. I'm a little illiterate when it comes to cars and their mechanical insides. That being said, I was confused about what the fuel injector actually looked like, so when I looked up the part for it and it looked different from the shell (I guess you could call it that) that covers the actual fuel injector, I just had to look up some kind of guide for it, and low and behold, I find your video. Thanks again for the video guide, man.
There are different strengths of loktite. Loktite is valuable to prevent bolts from coming loose, but there is a weaker version which can still be loosened easily and the strong, which is more like a glue. The weaker version is enough to prevent bolts from coming loose. The problem is that they used a screw head making it difficult to really get torque on it. You can also get an impact driver unit for smaller screws as well as for bolts. They are very effective for getting off Phillips head screws or any others.
Tip the reason you strip a lot of screws on cars is because of the Japanese standard screw you can tell if it's Japanese standard if there is a dot next to the screw head and you can order Japanese standard screwdrivers which are slightly different from us standard
@j12torts What year do you own? Mine is a 97, the fuel filter is in the back of the car right off the feed line from the tank. I think that other years they are in the front on the firewall, thats a really easy thing to check though, it could be the o ring or the gasket on your throttle body, cant really tell ya much through text though without lookin at it in person.
Antes de aflojar los tornillos se de aplicar limpia carburador en la cabeza del tornillo, para diluir el pegamento que estan en los hilos, luego esperar 15 minutos y soltar lentamente atornillando y destornillando.
@j12torts Oh ok gotcha, I have never worked on one of those before, and you dont see many around anymore over here pretty hard to find parts for too from what I understand. But all the same its probably under the car or on the firewall. I would think its an O rong though, or if it has a fuel rail that could be it. I would clean off the top of the motor and have a friend start it so you can see exactly where its coming from.
@crammage You know man I played with the idea and Pepboys Autozone and Oreillys did not have one for geo, but on the flip side all the information i have needed is on the GeoMetroForum
@hanksranger nah my car is not a Geo it's a Mitsubishi Pajero 1991 3.0L V6 (similar to your Mitsubishi Montero there in the states) it's not really a continous leak but whenever you start the car you smell gas and a dribble leaks out somewhere near the injectors, i think it could be an o-ring. yeah the fuel filter hasn't been changed for a while. i think this will cost me money, jst hoping its nothing major....lol
Hank's Small Engine Repair: Thankyou for your videos! Im a fan of underpowered but damn good cars!! It isnt the fastest but she will get you there WITH air conditioning.
+Angelo Castaneda they fit fine if I remember right. If you still have them take them into lowes and try to size up as best you can with the metric hardware they have. You might have to go with bolts instead of screws though
+hanksranger Okay. I have the Throttle Body off so I'll just take it with me to size up. Hey thanks for all your vids and time to put them together. you do a great job. very helpful.
+Angelo Castaneda no problem man. The fact it helps people is what makes it worth it, ya totally just take it in and see what you can do with it good news is hardware is cheap
My 1997 Subaru Justy (1.3 G13BA) left me stranded today with the same issue.. putting in a new fuel filter and either cleaning or replacing the injection. probably replacing it. :/
The problem with used parts is, it's a risk of the issue returning. And I'd rather not risk that. the car nearly stalled on me on a highway without a shoulder (on a bridge) and later stalled within city limits. I don't want to take any risks of that issue returning any time soon, and getting a used/cleaned part seems too risky to me at this point.
Just did this yesterday and ran into a problem with the O-ring on the electrical connector being bad. have some part #s for O-ring and screws from Fastenal. #2140879 www.fastenal.com/web/products?term=2140879&searchMode=productSearch for screw with a metric hex head. #1166816 www.fastenal.com/web/products/details/1166816?searchMode=productSearch&zipcode=&filterByStore=&filterByVendingMachine= for O-ring
There is a tool; it is called an impact driver. I believe this would be the proper tool to loosen these screws. It has different size drives - slotted or phillips - put the proper bit in the tool and hit the tool with a hammer - it has a spring that puts tension on the screw and the force from the hammer loosens the screw.
Have you ever considered buying a real car? You can get some great Hondas or Toyotas for about what you paid for this Geo. See what I just did there? Now you get it :)
+BBISHOPPCM's World Never told you to BUY a REAL bike, I asked you a question. Also bud I bought this car with the total intent to flip it, I paid 800 for it and flipped it at 3500 when gas was high. I made a good amount of money on it.
+hanksranger Sorry, I was trying to be funny. The Geo Metro is a great car; I almost bought one, but the entire rear axle beam was rotted off the car. I don't think any production car today gets anywhere NEAR the fuel mileage of these damn things!
I know buddy I got it lol I had a feeling it was just a misunderstanding my friend. These had a huge problem with rust even here in cali they tend to start rusting sadly. Anyways no hard feelings I love your vids bro!

What was your particular symptoms of a bad injector?

No prob man glad it helped you out. I have a ton more vids of my geo up if you would care to have a look if you need any more help.
@R1kid07 Because I had paper work from the prior owner saying it was clogged and it still ran, so I went ahead and replaced it.

What symptoms was the geo experiencing?
My 97 geo lsi keeps cutting out momentarily while under load.
Mine too, did you figure out the problem??
I got one that was cleaned ad re-rebuilt from ebay for about $38 has a 1 year warranty too
did it come with manuals? think about getting a chilton?
I have a 91 lsi and the fuel filter is in about the same place as yours. Under the car behind the drivers door.
a soldering iron will help withe lock tight also grabit pro screwvextractors work great to
man my engine is leaking fuel near the injectors, do you think its the o-ring? fuel injector clogged? or change the fuel filter?
I'm having the same problem. Thanks for the video!
You know this is a Suzuki right? Thats why its so easy to work on. Love my geo.
Stanley Speedway yea same car as the Swift. Both also shared Suzuki g10 and g13 engines.
Would this also apply to the '92s
+Justus Perry yup it should
@hanksranger nah my car is not a Geo it's a Mitsubishi Pajero 1991 3.0L V6 (similar to your Mitsubishi Montero there in the states)

what is the size of the screw?
Thanks man, I have a 91 Firefly 1.0 L 3 cylinder, is the fule injector in the same spot or somewhere else? Thanks bro!
Should be the exact same
Where is the fule filter located on the 3 cylinder geos?
Stanley Speedway along the frame rail under neath the car towards the rear can’t remember which side
Hank's Small Engine Repair: Thankyou for your videos! Im a fan of underpowered but damn good cars!! It isnt the fastest but she will get you there WITH air conditioning.
Driver’s side between the tank and frame.
left side
Hey Bro, what size screws did you use to replace the 2 screws that had blue locktite?
+Angelo Castaneda Honestly I do not remember :(
+hanksranger Oh okay. So did they fit okay or did you have to force or retread
+Angelo Castaneda they fit fine if I remember right. If you still have them take them into lowes and try to size up as best you can with the metric hardware they have. You might have to go with bolts instead of screws though

see if you can find one used, they can be pretty pricey new

Understandable man
Waar is video van uw justy?
I think so and I think it was 150. I should have just grabbed one from a junkyard though to be honest.
