There is also the preference "Transition time for automatically created envelope edge points" that you can use to change the default smoothing when you create a 4 point edit. If you are doing something repetitive (removing breaths for example), you can probably find one setting that just works. That is about as fast as it gets!
One thing that could be really neat is having a fade option on automation items. I really don't like having my automation float around like that and I basically only use automation items for everything. It's not easy performing smooth transitions, however. Imagine if they worked like audio items and could be smooth transitioned. For instance, if I had a 100% left panning automation item, I could smoothly transition from center to left by percentage by dragging the end of the automation item like a normal audio track. It would make my life with automation so much easier.
I much prefer selecting the time area then using an action to create FOUR automation points, two on each end, then dragging the middle line up & down. much faster. you can create a custom action to leave a default space between the points for the desired transition duration(s)
mixolydian mode try out u-he's tyrnell. It's free yet has a ton of stuff on par with other great synth vsts. Once you familiarize yourself with that, you can try something like serum. Cheers!
Dexed is the go to FM synth for me and Full Bucket Music has some awesome analog emulations. Both are totally free! I also use Arturia's Pigments. I love the visual feedback. Really helps me get a grasp of what's going on.
Great video Kenny! Is there any envelope for plugins/effects? I use volume, pan emvelopes often. But couldn't find any way to create something like fading telephone effect into no effect.

As a person who's always been struggling with drawing automation, this video was just perfect !
Exactly what I needed for this weekend's mixing session
Cheers Kenny

I keep getting amazed by what you can do in Reaper. If it was a car it would look like a VW Bubble but with a Lamboghini emgine!
Ctrl + C doesn't auto-create envelope points for me. What is the action called? I can't seem to find one that works.

Love the videos man! Just bought Reaper your guides are awesome :)
Hi Kenny, another option is to simply shift-click straight away without having to copy.
Thanks Kenny
Is there a way to make a default color for a TAKE marker? It always starts as yellow but I want it to be black. Would save time!
Thank you Kenny.
I don't get how the last method is any quicker than the first one.

Just touch the effect control that you want the envelope for, click the "Param" button, and under "Last touched" you will see "Show track envelope"
Hi Kenny how about clip gain? I'm used to Pro Tools so can you show us how? In Reaper
