    I always thought Jim Perry was such a great host and I loved SOTC. Glad GSN and eventually Buzzr re-aired some of them! Thanks for sharing!

    For reference, this is a syndicated episode taped off WABC, as opposed to being from NBC's daytime show (though at this point there was barely any difference between the two versions so I don't blame anyone for not being able to tell them apart).
    Regardless, thanks for sharing this. 😊

      The syndicated run didn't usually have end of show fee plugs, and had the Genesis entertainment mentioned at the end of the show.

      @MegaZeldafan1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The NBC Daytime version had the end of show fee plugs and "Videotaped at NBC Studios Burbank, California" as well as the voice over for NBC promo for shows and NBC Nightly News

      @@MegaZeldafan1 Some syndicated $ale episodes had end of show fee plugs, IIRC they were added in for the SUmmer 1985 reruns of first-season episodes. I think some early second season episodes had end of show fee plugs, also.

      Also, NBC Daytime Sale had five models (3 women and 2 men), and Syndicated Sale had three models (2 women and 1 male model with David & Greg rotating every week). Also, the fame game board was different from the Daytime shows, as far as numbers and cor schemes were concerned.

    Now I know why "$ale of the Century" couldn't get a foothold in syndication, because everyone was watching "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune".

      But Jeopardy! and WOF didn't pair each other until 1990s.

      Yes, indeed. But this and other syndicated game shows were canned by 1986. They include The Price Is Right Nighttime with Tom Kennedy, Catch Phrase, Break The Bank 1985, The Joker's Wild, Tic Tac Dough, and Let's Make A Deal 1984.

    This was the closest WABC TV has ever gotten to having Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! together before 1990. Here in NYC, Syndicated Sale of the Century aired after Jeopardy! in the 4:00 PM hour, Wheel was seen on WCBS TV at 7:30 PM. But, both Wheel and Sale's Syndicated version were played almost like their NBC Daytime counterparts.

    Can we get another Trivial Pursuit of 1994 and 1995 along with Shuffle Jumble Boggle and Debt game show? Can we also get the season 2 of Face the music that was taped off the USA Network too?

      The syndicated version didn't use the Instant Cash though it did debut on the daytime show on I believe 2/17/1986

    This must have been not too long after the nighttime show switched over to the winners board at the end.

    Has there been rare times on Sale of the Century that the champion won the car on the Winner's Board on his or her first day?

    • @zachhoran

      Morry won the car on 4/9/1985 on daytime, the day after Mark DeCarlo
