I dedicate this song to my daughters. Especially my step daughter. As someone who's tried to take her life away more than once, those 2 girls have packed their hearts for me to stay alive.. not knowing that's what unconditional love looks like. Them loving me through my worst times saves my life every day without them knowing. When he says I began to understand why God died, that part hits me the hardest bc that's what unconditional love is.
I recommend you listen to just some of the regional at best type: slowtown, forest, glowing eyes, kitchen sink, anathema, lovely, ruby, be concerned and clear. (in that order) the rest is on the vessel album. It's good to listen to these songs because they have good lyrics and to see the evolution from RAB to Vessel (sorry if the English is a bit bad, I used Google Translate)🙃
Yes!! I love this song. I think this song is about a person who is struggling with suicidal ideation and Tyler has tried to help them. The person gives him a final gift, their heart and then they lose their fight. The demon who sneaks in their room is the suicide. And Tyler has to walk away with their heart and the knowledge that the demon won. I could be wrong, but that's what I get from it. Awesome reaction!
You are right for the most part. There are just a few details you left out. In the beginning he explains how he is unsatisfied with he has done throughout his life by saying these two lines: "To add up the miles piled up behind me, I barely feel a smile deep inside me". He also explains how he envys other people's lives because the majority of them haven't suffered from the depression he has dealt with through saying, "And I begin to envy the headlights driving south". Afterwards, he describes how he just wants to die, but then he remembers his friend who died from suicide. He does this with these lines: "I want to crack the door so I can just fall out, but then I remember when you packed my car". Lastly, after she died, he offers his life for everyone else who suffers from the same thoughts that killed his friend. "And then I said I'll take the grave, please just send them all my way". Overall, this is a sad but powerful song. The level of poetry is beyond what can be found in the majority of music.
always enjoy your reactions! i'm not a big fan of the beeping sound in this one but i think the lyrics are so interesting- the idea that when tyler sees other people struggle, he wants to take away their pain but feels powerless to help them (I can especially relate to this seeing family struggle with mental health conditions like anxiety/depression), this experience helps him better understand how God feels seeing tyler suffer, 'I begin to understand why God died'- Christians believe that God sacrificed himself to save humanity from death because he loves them.
The car is a metaphor for his life. He began to envy other peoples lives and wanted to crack the door and fall out (suicide) but God buckled his heart in the back seat for him. A girl killed herself when he was out of sight. The demon told him what he had planned and he said he'd take the grave if the demon spared people thinking of suicide...imho.
There's an actual theory about this song that covers the whole DEMA and Clancy lore. "A Car" relates to the car in Heavydritysoul, "A Torch" relates to Josh being the torchbearer and "A Death" may reference Nico's death.
🔥🔥🔥🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥 Welcome back! We were worried about ya, man. That's legit. I've been rewatching your other reactions with my girl. Like a lot. Lol Oh and when you rank your top 5 you should chill and play all 5 back to back and try to pick your favorite of the album. It'll be harder than it seems. Trust me.
It might just be the way I think but I feel like the beginning sounds sound like a fire alarm or a smoke alarm, representing the torch. the bird chirping sound to me is like an older car making that sound when you press the key button, representing the car, and the lyrics and the meaning is talking about the “death” part. But I don’t know for sure. Your videos are so fun to watch! I appreciate them!
I'm not a fan of the 'tweet tweet' sound in this one but Tyler was experiementing with sounds at this point, as you've seen in other songs. Don;t worry not understanding this one, the lyrics are probably some of the most cryptic and metaphorical of their whole catalog, even those of us who really dig into Tyler's lyrics will interpret this song in very different ways!
The good news is, once you get thru TOP's vast catalog, these songs will hit different. And it depends on your mood and the day. There's plenty for every mood and every day. ❤ |-/
I always thought the bird sound was similar to something from Mario. Maybe the water world? If I'm not mistaken I think he did play the N64 growing up so he could've included it for nostalgia? Anyways I absolutely love your reactions and I'm so excited everytime I see you post!! Please don't overextend yourself cause I think everyone can agree with me that we'll be waiting and ready for the next reaction no matter how long it takes ❤❤
