Thank you, Tom. Pleasure talking to you about my old Tele and about stuff in general. Best with your shop. I really appreciate what you do on here. Glenn, Oveido.
So your local private customer is the legit owner of a legit custom shop guitar bought at a great premium from Fender and they still want a token $75 to produce a duplicate document to vouch for the known authenticity of the guitar. This is just another way Fender is saying to kiss their asses if you want to be a member of the club. That's when I tell Fender I'll never buy another guitar from them and furthermore I'll tell this sad story to every musician I know. Fender should've said, "Everything checks out and we are pleased to make you a replacement COA as a goodwill gesture because we want you to be happy, we value your business and we want more of it in the future. Thank you again for buying Fender! Is there anything else we can help you with?" Thanks, Tom. You presented this matter more than fairly.
@talonguitarworks7514 Interesting! So the folks spending a ton more money for a custom guitar are penalized if they need to get a duplicate COA made. As you said though, it's a nicer document, not cheap to provide. But I bet they don't have to do that very often. I guess the assumption is if someone can afford a custom shop guitar they can afford $75 for a fancy COA? 🤔 Thanks for this info.
