    It doesn't really address why Nicaragua isn't doing enough, but I would ask anyone 'disgusted' by this to remember what the US looked like in the 1970s - it was bad, pollution was horrible and trash was all over the roads. So the situation isn't hopeless. If that isn't enough, take a ride through LA, Baltimore or - of you dare - Kensington Philadelphia, where the problem is worse than just the trash. Thanks for keeping it Real. Scott! Love your vids.

      Most Nicaraguans that I talk to say that the littering is a result of "lack of education". The idea that littering isn't acceptable hasn't been pushed by the culture/society at large in Nicaragua. If this is true, then the change to drastically reduce littering should happen fairly quickly once it becomes a societal talking point.

      The river caught on fire in Cleveland in 1969. Nicaragua doesn't have big industrial base. So better of to start

    My top 5 issues with Nicaragua while I was in Leon.
    1.Trash, Littering
    2. Heat
    3. Stray Dogs/ Cats
    4. Lack of Materials and Skilled Labor.
    5. Foreigner Tax

      The heat really does improve. The stray dogs is tough. We've helped to rescue many.
      The foreigner tax also mostly goes away. But that takes a long time.

      @ScottAlanMillerVlog actually the heat was not so bad since we live in Texas. We had plenty of fans to circulate the air.

      Not everyone want to eliminate the gringo repellent. ( : GoPros are sold here, I think, and there’s an iStore in Managua. I bought camera gear from B&H and Adorama, except for some lenses that I bought at the now closed Sony Store.

    Another thing that boggles my mind is the deep holes inside sidewalks.
    My Mexican friend and I also cannot figure out why Latin American countries can't get curbs right. There's always cracks, chips and massive chunks missing from them

    A month before leaving Minnesota, I walked out my door and slipped on the ice, falling flat on my back. I layed there for a couple of minutes. All I could think about was I would never have to deal with that again!
    Also.... I get a good laugh every time I see Ortega on TV. I always keep time and notice that every time he's on, he refers to the government of the USA as Yankee terrorists within the first 5 minutes of his speech. I love the USA, but it's hilarious!

      If you'd take some time to read the bloody history of all the U.S. invasiones to Nicaragua, perhaps you would understand why he refers to the government of the United States as terrorist 🤔 And by the way, so do I!

    I haven't encountered the amount of loud music you describe at the restaurants I visited recently in Boaco. The temperature does not bother me much in the hill country around Boaco, but Leon and Managua probably take a bit more time to adjust to -not a big deal for me.

    Reporting live from a smouldering pile of trash 😂😂. I think I'm very close to your age, but i never experienced trash problems like you have in the USA. I grew up in an urban area where we always had weekly trash pickup. Leon needs a landfill. I know it's a poor country, but i believe the government can make that happen and i hope they do it soon. Are there charities or organizations spaying and neutering the street dogs to try to get that under control?

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I grew up in Western NY and we had no trash pickup. So trash burned in piles like this everywhere (maybe a little more organized.) No landfills, no pickup, no organization. There were drop off places far away if you owned a truck and had loads of leisure time to drive trash somewhere. So burning it was the standard. And the littering along the roadsides was everywhere.
      There ARE spay and neuter programs, but it has to be a massive, continuous effort and that is very hard to maintain.

    No trash burning at bosques Del Mar, playa Marsella. The interior stinks most of the time.

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I feel like every post seems like you've never been to Nicaragua. Obviously the "interior" isn't a single village like you imagine, and 99.9% of it has no trash burning. BUt you don't know that, as you've never been. I know you'll claim you are somehow a Nica expert.. yet have no knowledge of the country and live in an enclave. That you'll then claim isn't an enclave, when the whole country knows it as one.

    • @ScottAlanMillerVlog
      @ScottAlanMillerVlog 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      THere's a guy from that crappy piece of expat enclave that keeps making accounts and claiming all kinds of stuff in a desperate attempt to rent electric kayaks. Watch out for expats like this. They give the SJDS zone a bad name and will say anything to boost a silly business.
