been listening to this band ever since the original vocalist and seeing the lead guitarist take over and see how far he has come with singing is insane on how good he has gotten never get let down
I love Josh's writing. Everything sounds just right. We all know he's more than capable to go bat-shit crazy as a lead guitarist, but instead, he does superb use of the harmonies and riffs to make every part feel right.

For me, listening to this song for the first time was much like the time I first came across Sylosis with Empyreal. Didn't think it was anything special the first time, but after a few listens it became one of my favourite songs. Every one of their albums since Conclusion of an Age has been an absolute masterpiece. It's too hard to compare which album is the best when you have a number of killers on every album and I certainly cant pick a favourite. However, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but, you can't write an album where everyone will love every single song. At least with this we can be sure that Sylosis aren't going to go soft on us *cough* In Flames. Keep killing it Sylosis \m/ , will always be my favourite band!
You can hear them getting darker but more focused with everything they release. One of the most consistent bands in the metal scene today, and this song is fucking killer.

I don't think these guys could ever write a song that didn't kick ass. Every album fucking rules! And they are definitely one of the greatest modern metal bands.
The first 10 - 15 seconds of that solo towards the end if the song sounds very familiar!

+Robyn Dolezsar Edge of the Earth has the best riffs, the best solos. It's the best, no doubt. However, it's too long. That's what Sylosis improved on with Monolith and Dormant Heart: songwriting and timing. But I don't think they've released their opus yet. They will in time

+Jackson Slate but certain riffs and solos from Edge of the Earth just way too good so it makes the whole album.
Personally, I think that riff that comes just after 2nd solo from Beyond the Resurrected is the best metal riff ever written and the whole song just a pure masterpiece along with A Serpent's Tongue and Empyreal. I absolutely love solo from Eclipsed, although I don't like the whole song that much.
For Monolith we have great 2nd solo and song itself A Dying Vine and best atmospheric metal song What Dwells Within, but that's pretty much all.
And I can barely remember any solos from Dormant Heart, because most of them, if not all, just going way too fast to remember and the only outstanding riffs for me are from Servitude and To Build a Tomb.
if we're gonna be fair, then don't forget that fear the world has that great sweep riff. So does born anew.
I really like behind the sun's solo. Out from below is one of the best songs Sylosis has written.

Always love Sylosis, the atmosphere is awesome and I can even hear some black metal at the start of this. But I would really love to see more material like edge of the earth, as I believe they have not topped that yet. Not that a goal should always be to replicate and live up to another album, but the move from COAA to EOTT was incredible, as both of those albums are crushers! Absolute masterpieces in metal. That is the kind of "living up to" I am referring to.
Monolith and Dormant heart were incredible too do no get me wrong, and indoctrinated could have been on any Sylosis album!

In my my opinion Monolith is by far their best work. EOTE is great but a little bit dense. Monolith is more focused and has this atmosphere of melancholy and dread

Feel like this band could really be something special if they got a more decent drummer, the rest of it is spot on, but the drums seems so plain and boring. They just seem like they're there because they have to be, not because they add anything to the music.

i too think so... its just not a "crazy apocalypse epicness everywhere" anymore. now its like "darkness haunted heavy-duty" I listened to sylosis in their first albums because of that epicness. not saying they're bad now, but I'm just not as into their new sound.
