Great Question! Actually I thought the same thing a couple years ago when I saw some people torching there blades to get that iridescent tarnished look. I spoke to a couple people that do it regularly and they all kind of said the same thing. The torched tarnish look is achievable just on the very surface of the blade. And as long as the heat is evenly distributed it shouldn’t warp or lower the HRC. Same thing with the hardware. I personally have never experienced soft or warped threads after torching.

Did the button face where it meets the blade weaken with the heat? I tried this with my pyrite and now it binds up and is basically shot
No it did not affect my lock up at all
