@@dontbreadonme9213 movie did good job of flipping expectation of characters. Even someone like Justin Long who is so naturally likable had a rapist side and come to find out an evil side in the final showdown
Came here to say the same. What a moment of human decency. Watching the movie I was like “how is Justin so good at being a piece of shit when he is so clearly a great and kind person?”
This movie was just absolutely incredible. Zach Cregger is hands down one of my new favorite directors. I literally had to pick my jaw up off the floor when mother was revealed. I watched it stoned and alone in the dark so it definitely scared the shit out of me. Justin’s character had me laughing my ass off. I’ve never been a fan of comedy in a horror movie because I feel like it takes you out of that fearful, edge of your seat state of mind but for me this is the first movie that absolutely got it right. It was something I was not expecting and was pleasantly surprised.
I think bill has this uncanny ability to portray his characters in such a way that is creepy, mesmerising but unknowing also in what is going to unravel...i think the fact he played a very limited time within the movie his impact was infathomable and none the less had a great impact in how the dybamic of this movie unfolded. These actors and the actresses are brilliant and very skillful and it shows when u have such a great authentic bond with directors and cast members.. how a movie can very well come together in such a realistic and impactful way. Well done.
This movie was incredible! This Cast was wonderful I love Justin, Georgina, and omg Bill Skårsgard’s fine as hell, creepy ass. I had the wind knocked out of me half way through the movie. Haven’t been so shocked and excited in a long time. I recommend it to everyone!
That’s the point. Same with Bill and Logan’s characters: one usually plays creepy dudes but in this is the opposite of that, the other plays nice dudes, here is the opposite of that…
I went into this movie blind and man it was so fucking good so well constructed and well written and freaky as hell and a future horror classic film in my mind also I felt it had a shining vibe to it
I wish someone would have asked if the director was intending to make us (the audience) sympathetic towards mother at the end. If you really think about it, mother is just a product of her fathers evil and sadistic ways. She was clearly scared to death of him with the way she backed up when she found Justin in-front of her fathers door.
I would be wary of any person who *doesn’t* feel sympathy for Mama at the end. She showed far more humanity than Justin Long or her “father” did. She’s far from being the Barbarian in this film.
Went to see it cause I saw Zack was in it, but when the first death happens, I turned to my friend and was like " I think Zack wrote this, it's just like how twists of his sketches happen " saw that he was the writer at the end and lost my shit😂 I love this movie. Also I truly believe Keith was written to subconsciously to be like Trevor

This movie was original and a good time! I watch it twice and I have a theory that Tess's job interview, Keith, the rope connecting the basement, the AJ's assault, the homeless man and the police are all an elaborate scam. I hope there is a prequel or sequel to this movie because I have some loose ends I want to answer! For example, who's Marcus? who posted the house on Airbnb? Should have the police officers called back-up or ask her for her ID? This movie is an example that horror movies are cautionary tales!! Will watch again!
I actually love how every single question *WAS* answered in the film. 1. Marcus was Tess’ bf (maybe ex) who kept calling to try and lure her back into a toxic relationship. This is why Tess’ main lesson in the film is to stop going back. 2. Justin Long’s character owns the house and used the AirBnB company to handle the renting and maintenance. So it’s literally just a normal AirBnB posting. 3. The cops *did* ask for her ID and she tells them she doesn’t have it when they first roll up. So there’s no elaborate scheme or trap, it’s just a normal house with a horrible secret hidden underneath.
i was so disappointed when bills character died and i think awkward men are underrated and honestly what he said was depicted was absolutely nothing close to what is truly cringe worthy and uninvited . bills character was so sweet and cute not red flag worthy at all
Nah, he had red flags left and right. Turns out it was just because he wasn't as aware of how he would be perceived by women in vulnerable positions. But you're right that he totally didn't deserve to die.
Why did you choose a 1991 to 1994 ALFA ROMEO SPIDER for his character to drive on the Californian coast highway. I can't see someone like his character driving something like that.
I've listened to a lot of interviews and Q&As with horror writer-directors and this was one of the worst. Barbarian was great but I wonder if Cregger has it in him to be able to make more, I suspect not.
the director refused to answer any of the legitimate questions from the audience: what happened to Bill Skarsgard's body? How was Mother so strong (especially if she's an inbred human that has lived underground her whole life)? such a copout
Everything doesn’t need to be explained. It kinda ruins the mystique of the movie if you know every intricate detail. Especially with horror. The imagination is sometimes more powerful than being shown what happens.
Maybe he's being considerate to the incest community. Huge incest community in America lots of family secrets u have no idea. Generation after generation. Grandma and grandson it's crazy.
What I am super baffled how is doing a woman a favor a red flag 🤦that's like being super nice is a red flag man I can't with stupid comments like this.
To some people, doing a favor for someone creates obligation. If I do something nice for you, you owe me - not necessarily that you are obligated to do an equivalent thing back to me, but you are indebted to me in some way. So, suppose Person A and Person B are in a situation where Person A thinks this way, and Person B does not. If Person A performs an unsolicited favor for Person B, and then makes a request of Person B, and Person B refuses, this could anger Person A and lead to further conflict. Person B might even agree, despite not wanting to, out of concern that Person A might get upset. You can imagine how a particularly predatory person might take advantage of that. So, if Person A does an unsolicited favor for Person B, Person B might reasonably be concerned that Person A might expect some kind of reciprocation that Person B does not feel they agreed to. To be clear, it's not just about "doing a woman a favor," it's about doing a person an *unsolicited* favor (a favor that they asked for is obviously totally different), thereby putting them in a position where they are concerned that you might feel that they owe you something. You might imagine a conversation, some time after the favor occurred, like this: A: *makes a sexual advance, like physical touch, an attempt at a kiss, etc.* B: Stop, I don't want that. A: Why are you being so rude? I helped you get your stuff settled in here, you shouldn't be rude to me. Now, B has to consider whether it's worth it - or safe - to continue to push back, risking A getting even angrier. B has to do a lot of complicated social math in their head all at once, and it often leads to dangerous scenarios. If you still feel this doesn't make sense, or doesn't ring true, go ask some women or trans folk about it. Most likely, they'll be able to give more personal experience than I can.
What’s funny though is that Bill’s character is a genuinely nice guy even while being weird lol
