A personal mud wing head canon I have is that they dye their underwing with different dyes created from their environment since they’re a pretty dull species and it’s a way to show off without loosing their camouflage
I headcanon that MudWings have a beautiful and long-standing ceramics culture, brilliantly dyed and sculpted. Clay and fire are their favourite mediums. The MudWing palace interior is covered in tile patterns similar to big mosques from the medieval period. The outside is left plain as a reminder that true beauty is one's inner character, not visible from the surface.
I find that adding more detail to the Mudwings is something I’m really happy about! Also the fact that the only POV of a Mudwing we got (before the scrolls in the Guide) talked a lot about how he likes food 😔. Bit definitely keep it up I’m excited for this series to expand!!
Cool :D I really like giving MudWings big curved horns (like bighorn sheep); I really love the tusks/hippo teeth idea, it's very fitting and creative! And the homes built in the roots of trees-- I think mangrove trees are perfect for this, it's the right environment for them and mangrove roots already provide a habitat for many animals. I haven't read the Guide book yet; I'm hoping it does all the tribes justice, but especially the MudWings. They have so much unique potential for awesome worldbuilding but they're always left in the dust and it makes me so sad. They deserve better :(( Also your art is STUNNING ✨✨ that shading!! so gorgeous
This is awesome! I like to draw Mudwings with Ram-like horns, jagged stone-like spikes, and moss covering them in certain places. I also wonder sometimes if Mudwings who aren’t Bigwings are treated worse, and less important. I have an Oc who’s Bigwings did not want to be queen at all, so she became queen in her place but her tribe won’t accept her because she is not Bigwings.
Honestly i love mudwings, they are a chance for me to draw chunky little monkeys with dull but detailed features, i usually draw mudwings with an extra chunky tail adorned with jewellery, and most of my wof oc's are artists and are very colourful with their style, mudwings for me are a blank canvas, they can pull of basically anything!
I love these ideas! I immediately thought that they could also make mud-brick houses, perhaps with mangrove trees as the foundation; they're big dragons so they need big houses
I love your mud wing redesign, especially using irl animals as a reference to your design and i think they turned out wonderful! i also love the story you gave the species, it does fit them better. Amazing work!
I love the idea of tusks I think they would be great for helping them shovel mud with the snouts if they needed too. The whole design is awesome aswell
EEEEEE!!! I love this video and series idea soooo much!!!!! I might do a series like this at some point as I have seen loads of people try it :) The only head canon that I really have for mud wings is that instead of them only being brown and brown-ish reds, I think that a lot of them would have at least a little bit of green in their designs. I think that this would make them a lot more interesting and also it makes sense, because there is green in their surroundings not only brown.
I’m so sorry that I didn’t see this video 11 hours ago I was sleeping 😅, I love the whole base of the mudwings and how you would make them I do wish I tui would make mudwings like this I love you’re idea it’s awesome
your art skills are amazing, i wish i was that talented, i love your channel and this would be amazing to have, expanding on culture and religions is what i personally love to see in books but wings of fire has other aspects that makes me love it, i hope that you dont stop making art any time soon that is all i have to say.
For the Mudwings culture I think it would have been cool to see a seperate group of Mudwings who are like native hunter gatherers who also travel a lot and dont fall under rule of the Mudwing kingdom. They would be kind and adventurous with the other tribes enjoying their company as they have a unique culture unlike the main tribes and a positive non threatening vibe that makes everyone feel at peace. They seek no outside conflict with others and are made up of several Sibling groups up to 50 or more dragons.
I could also see Mudwing biology being different than the other tribes. Not just the Fireproof scales aspect but other crocodilian traits. Even though basking is a Rainwing thing I think basking in warm mud which already happens for signifigant periods of time would be cool. When there are food shortages groups of Mudwings could undergo hibernation for 2 or so years like real crocodilians. I was also thinking that for especially groups of Mudwings living closer to the ocean or near deeper lakes that they could have a waiting strategy being submerged in the water again like crocodiles, than ambushing tjem so they dont have to waste energy getting food.
Yeh I agree, the tribes especially the Mudwings and every other tribe should have involved more of their common customs and traditions that affect their role or likely background in the story. There are some like Winter with his societal and family norms, or how Nightwing powers that affected how dragons viewed Moon at first. But theree also unexplored hinted culture like Sandwings Moon Festival or how they love Music, etc.
;Your drawings are so beautiful and just amazing also love your style,details,coloring, line art.Hope you have a amazing day while also taking some time too yourself that’s all I got a say for now Bye,Bye ^w^;
Thank you! And I am currently on my winter break. Sadly, it won’t be very long, but it has been very nice to have the past few days without school. I’m trying to crunch out all my due art, which is stressful, but it is very nice to see this stuff getting done. Thank you for checking in! It really means a lot ❤️❤️❤️
No problem it’s kinda a thing I do sometimes when I get anxious I just randomly reach out to people because I don’t feel like I’m a good friend so I have to make sure people don’t hate me lol@@SleepyGemstone
MudWings are beavers. They should live on homes that are semi-underwater in muddy places. Like Florida. Also, MudWings eat a lot because of their build…how is this so hard to understand? Yeah MudWings are my favorite tribe. They’re really interesting, and Mike and Tui did them DIRTY. Not even muddy. The reason they have flat snouts is so they can blend in but still have beautiful bodies besides that.
For a second I was confused when you said, “they could definitely use clay to make pottery” because I thought you meant clay the character XD. I don’t think clay would be very good at pottery lol
I agree that Mudwings are boring, and I'm the kind of person that loves characters with deep sad backstorys that give them emotional scars, but mudwings..... Are just there and stick out from the others, and another reason why I think they are the worst tribe is I don't really like Foodie characters, I'd much rather like characters with deep, sad, emotional stories of their mom or someone close to them dieing, leaving, or becoming mean..... Yeah mudwings are just...... Not good

I definitely think an expansion on Mudwing culture in the books would've been awesome, and I enjoy the ideas you came up with here!

I love the ideas presented here, Clay looks adorable! The tusks are a great addition, but it looks like they might make it hard to see straight ahead.

Mudwings are already my favorite tribe, but I really wish they would’ve given them something more in the books!
I love all the changes you made, especially the pottery and chefs parts! So excited to see where this series goes!
I don't know if I'm making a big deal but having some of their teeth protrude out their mouth looks so cute
Nice
I've actually never liked mudwings that much
i love the re-design! i also find the idea of more cultural stuff to be real interesting and i would love to see it written into the books!
The mudwings definitely deserve more, they seem so cool!

AHH I LOVE THIS. personally i love mudwings.:) I just love their design! THIS IS LITERALLY BEAUTIFULLL!!!! i love how you changed them
Yea, I really need to redesign my WoF tribe redesigns…but still, very cool! Also…THE CHONKINESS
That looks so cute! I love the design you came up with! I would love if this was a series!
I love the idea of tusks I think they would be great for helping them shovel mud with the snouts if they needed too. The whole design is awesome aswell
Ya know what would be cool? If someone just redesigned the whole landscape of kingdoms
That would be awesome!
Yeah
How do you add such beautiful texture to your drawings? Also I am loving your redesign! OH and I can’t wait to see more from this series.
>:0 This is so amazing! I love your art, and just this video in general. Keep up the great work!

if they ever make a WoF movie/tv series, they should use your designs
I agree MudWings kinda just weird me out ngl XD

I think mudwings are cute and underrated but they definitely aren't as good as the other tribes
