If you were doing legs right you would look forward to them. Start really really trying hard and focus before you know it you will see size and strength and then you will look forward to doing legs. Trust me I know.
Great video. I've been training for almost 50 years and I've always put the numbers facing in...that's just the way I was taught by the older guys when I started.... LOL
It was awesome to see you with Bobby. Really nice to get to know him more. Really looking forward to attending my second Shaw Classic to watch you both compete. Best wishes to you both and the rest of the competitors! 💪💪
Honestly, it really doesn't matter what side the plate faces. It doesn't change the weight or anything, how ever. The plate facing in does allow you to grab the rim of the plate with your finger tips and your palms and thumb braces the back of the plate, so if you want to make it harder for yourself then place them having out.
I have always been on the fence about Bobby, super strong ofc but I always felt some super serious, no bs, hard individual from his quiet nature lol. Man, he changed my mind today haha
Builds an enormous gym, and it's already completely full. This time next year- "Hey guys! Welcome to the tour of my next new home gym! Over 3x bigger than that last tiny place!"
So glad there will be a live stream! Really hated not being able to watch WSM as it was happening but I understand why they did it. Will for sure be watching. Some year Ill make it over there or maybe you could just host it here in Minnesota by me :)
@Master Marc Subliminals from my understanding was the contracted companies wanted time to make it more condensed to appeal to newer fans of strongman. Honestly I would love both a live stream and the director cut with the added commentary. They don’t want ppl that watch the livestream to buy buy the show when they do all the editing. But I don’t think they would lose viewers
I'm inspired by your admiration. Pure dedication. And the dedication you have with discipline twords your goal. Endure, survive, conquer. You eat eight eggs in the morning I eat ten. With five pieces of cheese and half a thing of black pepper. Your challenging goals twords the top are my motivation. And the wins lives in my spirit. Thank you.
Brian Shaw if you're reading this know that Am counting on you to get your 5th title, you are such an inspiration ,love what you do and what you've accomplished so far
I face the plates with numbers 'in' because they are easier to grip/load/unload that way. I mostly use my fingers to grip a plate lip. I suppose if you are accustomed to using your thumb to hook the lip, then facing numbers out would make sense.
Just saw you were going speak at the central strength expo in Columbia next week! Super excited and hope I get to attend! I’m just hoping and praying I see you randomly at the YMCA in Ashland session 😂😂
In gyms, and "normal" lifting, plates always go with writing facing in. Powerlifters always put the first plate facing in and all others after with writing facing out.
Bobbie is a absolute savage. I was upset when he went against you in stones because no one in that lineup other than Tom maybe can challenge you in a stoneoff. Poor guy always gets the group of death.
This never makes sense to me, if they can verify the plates in the middle are the correct weight, then why do they need to see the inside plate and its numbers?
Proper way is plate facing in, so when removing the it your four fingers get under the end brim of plate to have more of a grip when removing. If you have the plate facing numbers out, you will be using your thumb to hold the brunt of the weight when holding the plate.
I was taught facing in, but like facing out. It is more efficient when adding or removing them, but only on the leg sled, otherwise they make too much noise
Hell yeah I love Bobby Thompsons mindset. He's definitely another favorite strongman of mine. Static monster. Glad to see him train with Brian :))
It’s the beard for me
Cool
Brian is the best thing to ever happen to Strongman!
100%
He is called the evolution after all
Dude todays legs and i didnt want to do it. Now i have to.
Never skip leg day
you bros bring a tear to my eye
Lol me too 😂
If you were doing legs right you would look forward to them. Start really really trying hard and focus before you know it you will see size and strength and then you will look forward to doing legs. Trust me I know.
@@mikebb1000 and who the hell are you 😂🤣
Loving the new gym! Love Bobby’s energy, he’s seem like such a down to earth dude just like Brian
Bobby is just a super friendly soul. Good to see you two move some weights together.
Bobby Thompson top 😂
4:46 "you know Brian, I am explosive, compact, and travel size" Just gonna add this quote to my list real quick. Will have to use that one.
Plates facing in always! Bobby is a great guy. It’s kind of amazing that most if not all high level strongmen are nice guys.
That's awesome Brian. It's even more amazing how you help others improve and share your knowledge to the people you compete with
Great video. I've been training for almost 50 years and I've always put the numbers facing in...that's just the way I was taught by the older guys when I started.... LOL
When you deadlift you go numbers out…why change it just for leg press
It was awesome to see you with Bobby. Really nice to get to know him more. Really looking forward to attending my second Shaw Classic to watch you both compete. Best wishes to you both and the rest of the competitors! 💪💪
I remember watching Bobby as an Amateur at Arnold’s it’s crazy what he’s transformed into
I always knew Bobby is a nice man, but he's so chill and giving alot of down to earth vibes
the best and still the most humble!!!
Would love to see you come over to New Zealand. Huge fan
That leg press is gonna be insane !!
Plates Turned In . They Fit Smoother. You’re Right Brian
I think Alan Thrall explained my thinking on this, too, in one of his Q&A. It's easier to grab the plate with number-side in, so that's how I load it.
Honestly, it really doesn't matter what side the plate faces. It doesn't change the weight or anything, how ever. The plate facing in does allow you to grab the rim of the plate with your finger tips and your palms and thumb braces the back of the plate, so if you want to make it harder for yourself then place them having out.
you guys rock! great stuff. you gotta come back for more Bobby!
LFG BEEN WAITING FOR THIS COLAB
loved this duo! Plates facing IN is the only way to do it.
Plate facing in all day Brian!!
Bobby is a man who commands respect.
Bobby seems like such a cool dude....good session guys!
Shoulda called this Brians half rep leg day.
Imagine living in the Medieval period and you see Shaw coming at you dual wielding great swords.
I have always been on the fence about Bobby, super strong ofc but I always felt some super serious, no bs, hard individual from his quiet nature lol. Man, he changed my mind today haha
In powerlifting the first plate goes facing in and all other plate facing out.
Brian you are the greatest God bless you

I'm glad too! I was hoping to go in person, but I have last minute major car repairs
it's not viewers they're worried about. The network will not pay for it if it's live streamed and they'll lose tens of millions of dollars
@@prince_9931 yeah they don’t want people to watch the live stream and not their other program. But I want both!

Plates facing in all day. That’s how you load weight 💪🏻💪🏻
NO. JUST NO.
@@hipangeo2883 yes. just yes. always in never out
It makes no sense to put the number in. It´s like to look at the backside of your phone
Fan of Thompson for sure. Awesome to see you training together.
Brian making fun of someone who is taller than 90% of the population for being short is something only someone 6’8” can do
Big fan of Bobby. Glad to see him on the channel.
WHAT A GOAT!!!
I didn’t see a goat where was it in the video
Can he solo goku tho?

YES I NEEDED THIS MOTIVATION
Someone 9 ft tall could use that yolk with those uprights
Great stuff. Now that was some just get after kind of banter!!! Awesome as Always!!

I get why numbers in because of the grip of the plate, but some gyms don't have the grip. Personally, numbers out if there's no grip.
Hoping for Bobby to stay injury free for Shaw Classic so he can show his true capabilities.
Definitely buying the LIVE!
Great line up of athletes 👏
holy crap!! I gotta have or be able to use that squat machine!!! Unreal!!
I’ve been loading numbers out for 40 years. Great session. Now I want a yoke for my gym!
In gyms, and "normal" lifting, plates always go with writing facing in.
Powerlifters always put the first plate facing in and all others after with writing facing out.
Is great to see U and bobby training in that way ...best regards
My current gym has no plates with olympic plates like Brian mentioned. When I trained at a gym with them, however, I'd usually put numbers facing in.
Love your videos Brian and this one is fab and funny with Bobby. Am sure it doesn't matter but plates facing out for me
Plates facing out ? Who's with me .
I love my rogue deep dish plates they’re so darn purrty
Yeah Bobby Thompson! Cerberus Strength in the house! Keep the videos coming Brian!
I’ve already been to the gym today, but Brian always makes me want to right back to the gym.
Now that is a top notch plug at the start
Bobbie is a absolute savage. I was upset when he went against you in stones because no one in that lineup other than Tom maybe can challenge you in a stoneoff. Poor guy always gets the group of death.
First plate facing in so the lifter can verify the correct weight, the rest face out so the judges can verify the weight. That is the correct way.
This never makes sense to me, if they can verify the plates in the middle are the correct weight, then why do they need to see the inside plate and its numbers?
@@MrBasicc It's not because of that. It's so the TV can see the plates on the inside and outside.
Thats legit it
Great video guys I love Brian and Bobby
I do it IPF style with my kilo plates. Facing in for the first plate and facing out for the rest.
So you can see the KG’s from every angle lol.
PLATES OUT!
Hi Brian 👋🏻👋🏻
Great video, Thanks!
This awesome stuff...love the new gym..it's badass...would love to meet you one day brother your awesome man...keep on keeping on...
I put the flat side of the plates together so they all go back to back and lip to lip. Love seeing two professionals getting after it.
I love seeing your collabs yall should do a food challenge while hes out there.
Love it! Feed Bobby Thompson
numbers out
the proper powerlifting way by the rules is first plate in. all other plates facing out.
Laces out, Dan! Oh, I mean, numbers in, Bobby. Come on, man.
Awesome video can’t wait for he Shaw classic
Still crazy how normal Brian makes other monsters look lol
Bobby is built like a brick. And what a freaking cool, friendly dude! Definitely like this collab B!
Proper way is plate facing in, so when removing the it your four fingers get under the end brim of plate to have more of a grip when removing. If you have the plate facing numbers out, you will be using your thumb to hold the brunt of the weight when holding the plate.
2 of my favorite strongman guys, and I can’t help but laugh at the insanity of Bobby Thompson looking small next to anyone.
Log pressing with Bobby next 🙏
American nightmare and yes Brian you the man
Plates face in!
This is the gymrat version of the tp roll argument
B never skips leg day
Thanks Brian but u don't have to send gifts mate watching u made me get my shoulder fixed and hit it again
Plates facing in is the correct way. Mark Rippetoe approved.
I was taught facing in, but like facing out. It is more efficient when adding or removing them, but only on the leg sled, otherwise they make too much noise
Plates facing in! Always!
Is there an option to only buy the livestream? I'm not seeing it on the website.
I was always numbers out until Brian told me I was wrong, and who am I to disagree with the 4x wsm?
Numbers facing in! ALWAYS!! The lip on the plate provides a better, safer, more natural grip for handling the plate.
My first plate always goes on facing out and then the rest of them face in to cut down on wind resistance
Try working out in a vacuum chamber for even better results.
Numbers facing in is the way!
Numbers in always!!!
Plates face in, no question!
Plates facing in, it's a must!
