@@Holographiclynx So... Is a Porsche without seats really a complete Porsche? But yeah if they can sell the seats for the 3k they showed and can get some normal ones for 1k it's kind of fair.
Love my '98. make sure you check the IMS bearing, if its been upgraded or not. If not, I recommend it. you guys should turbo charge it and staight pipe it.
Give it an oil change and inspect the oil for metal debris, the IMS bearing can fail, checking oil will help to see if the bearing might be failing/disintegrating. You don’t want the bearing to fail as this will mean engine out and a rebuild, just my 2 cents as Boxster owner
Those seats aren't as valuable as you think. Last set on ebay sold for $1500 2 months ago. The guys who are asking $2k and up have had their sets sit there for months.
and that's prime condition, the carbon might be bad at the back, the leather's cracked like a deserts ass and the sponges look shot to shit. $800 tops in that condition.
I own a 99 Boxster. I'm the second owner and have had it for about 10 years. And yes I've let the battery die before and never could find the cable to pop the trunk. I moved the cable to one of the vents. I ended up jumping the car through the cigarette lighter to get it open. And never change the exhaust on those, you'll lose that amazing midrange sound it makes.
I have an S type 4.2 Jaguar, and the battery which is in the trunk went dead one winter so I googled it and there is a key hole in the trunk edge where you put the ignition key. Good video guys I just subscribed.
HackerBoy11 i did.. he paid $2,500 for a car. Said he might sell the seats for $2,000. So at the end hopefully he will spent only $500 for the car.. so you tell me.. is a $500 car from the beginning?
I owned a yellow 2.7 boxster. Great cruising car. If you will resell it will attract the attention of several ladies so a louder pipe is not necessary. Moreover a young timer has more value it is in OEM conditions.
I owned a new 2003 Boxster - I sold it June 2021 with 67k miles. No issues other than I had to replace an alternator in 2019. Fun little car and still looked like new.
You guys are really the LUCKIEST SOBs I have seen in a good long while. I bet the original owners were kicking their butts after finding out it was so easy to find the manual latch (OK pretty easy, anyways)
Regarding the seats, check the build codes (the paper on the frunk lid). If it doesn't specify the seats that are now in it, sell 'em. If it does, you might want to keep 'em. $2500 is still cheap for a 986, even if it is a base.
Fidel Breto it's not the tools that make the technician...it's how you use them. HF has good tools, you get what you pay for...wanna 4.99 socket set with ratchet...you have junk..spend the $25 for a single ratchet.
Just thinking about it, it seems that a manual frunk release could be made with a remote choke cable, or bicycle brake cable and a few fittings at a bike store. You can make those any length you want.
GREAT FIND GUYS!!! I OWN A AUTO DETAILING SHOP IN TOLEDO OHIO AND I BUY CARS ALL THE TIME!! BEAUTIFUL 2002 RED CORVETTE 32KMILES!! PLUS A BUNCH OF OTHERS!!! GOD BLESS YOU GUYS!!
It's damn near impossible to make a 986 or even a 987 sound like a gt3. Although they're both flat 6 engines, that's where the similarities stop. The GT3's have larger displacement motors, a dry sump oil-system, and are the "Mezger" engine which is a different engine than the M96 (don't know sub variant) that comes in the boxster. A straight piped boxster sounds a little ricey and doesn't have the howl that a gt3 has. And I'm not dissing you, I just thought I'd voice my knowledge (even if it may be wrong). But hell yeah, MAKE THAT SHIT LOUDER!!!!
Great deal. The seat option is called "Sports Seats" some call them "Turbo Seats", they are basic to the 996 turbos. GT3/GT2 seats are way different. Keep them.
What a crazy find. I want one... Make sure the IMS bearing was or get replaced. Otherwise you can plan on rebuilding the engine. Just looking out for you guys! and keep the seats!
You should sell the seats and give the Car to the mechanic as a gift... It's hard to find a mechanic you can trust and he keeps your business afloat. He deserves ot
Once you straight pipe in the UK you are unable to get an MOT legally. Is it the same in the u.s. an MOT is a service where if you don't get signed off the car is unable to drive on the road
Upgraded steering wheel, 6 speed, 4 stalk function and also 987 wheels! Great find
A 2001 is only worth $2,500 as a non runner, if the engine was knackered it would have been a bad deal
noob is a 500 dollars car, less he spend better is
5 speed
He'd of got 2k for the seats plus parting out still wouldnt of been a bad deal
He wouldnt get $2000 for the seats.

I would think with that mileage it would have been done. If not, ASAP. That is the best PM that car can get.

given the previous owner was part of the porsche club there is a good chance the IMS bearing was replaced..
So.. I'm guessing the car was 2500 after parts and selling the imterior seats only spent about 500
