In Ultraman 80, the monsters are created from this "negative energy" which comes from negative human emotions (sad,angry,jelous,etc...) In this case, the kid was beaten by a gang and became very sad. This cause the negative energy to turn the toy Ultraseven into a giant that wanted to kill the gang members
I'm still pretty new to Ultraman and I've watched Orb and some of Mebius but this is way more goofy (in a good way) than I expected. Why did they stop doing stuff like this? Orb was ok and Mebius is great, but this looks like a lot of genuine fun
I think showa era Toku in general are goofy like this lol, the same case goes for Sentai & Rider Ultraman R/B is kinda goofy/funny if you like a fun & relaxing series
It's actually a really good show. I haven't seen all of it (how could I? There's FIFTY fucking episodes) but the human host is a teacher, and the monsters are created from "minus energy," which is like a sorta supernatural force based on bad vibes. So your standard episode will have one of 80's students going through some sort of hard time (issues with parents, bullies, there's even an episode where a kid falls in love for the first time and doesn't know how to handle it) which creates a monster based on those feelings, so 80 fights the monster while the human host helps out the kid. It's really neat and a great break from all those janky, samey 70's shows which turned into like a singularity of goofy nonsense. There's other episodes, like some of them have aliens or w/e, but generally it does have a clear focus and plot which I really appreciate.
That's actually Delusion Ultraseven, which was a toy of Ultraseven that was turned into a Minus Energy Monster from the tears of the boy you see in this video before the vinyl figure appears onscreen.
...why the fuck did the Ultraseven doll phase through the wall when they could've just made it go out the window? Like yeah sure it's possessed by minus energy and is all supernatural or whatever... but it was only a few inches from the window. It doesn't matter if it CAN phase through walls, there's no fucking reason to do it the window is RIGHT THERE!
