I remember the water levels in kirby games were some of my favourites, however the most memorable water lever to me is a recent one, the one from Horizon Forbidden West. It was so beautiful and unexpected

I used to boot up Donkey Kong Country, go to Coral Capers and just sit there and listen to the music as a kid. It's sooooo good. Later as I grew up and learned the guitar, I found the midi for it, converted it to guitar tabs and learned to play it on guitar. I'm obsessed with that song. I also had a similar feeling with the water music on Super Mario 64. I haven't learned it on guitar...but now I'm probably going to lol. I just love that relaxing and whimsical tone that comes from retro water level songs. Can't get enough of it. Thanks for talking about my 2 favorite video game tracks!

It´s incredible how fast you are creating new long videos. :) it always takes me ages to make the script, film and edit.^^ It´s nice to hear another perspective on water levels, which are as you said mostly hated on

A good example of a modern water level in a Metroidvania is the luma pools in ori and the will of the wisps, it doesn’t use the typical 2D water movement, and doesn’t feel very unfamiliar to me from the base game, and I think it perfects the water movement. This channel is really underrated keep up the great work!

A very honorable mention in this topic is Bubble Man from Megaman 2. It's frustrating, sure, but it's the only atage that really forces you to be careful with your jumps if you don't want to fall or hit the spikes in the ceiling. It keeps the gameplay tense and it can't be trivialized with weapons or items like the other stages.
