For me I think he means you can’t take from the bird and have it’s same experience and you can’t be the bird and leave it depleted and it’s wrong to cage the bird( another person) so you have to be whole and find your own wings and then you will experience flight and love.
I believe it is similar to the lesson found in 1 CORINTHIANS 10:23. While we desire total freedom, it comes with the obligation to use it for good. Some see the restraint of using it only for good as a limitation to the freedom itself. Believers in Christ do not or should not. True freedom is a higher calling. God Bless you Kiyoe! I think he is talking about our need for community. In our hyper individualistic culture “freedom” just leads to isolation and loneliness. Let somebody love you. Let yourself be part of a community. When you do and when you are there are parts of you that come alive and that’s better than the “freedom” of never needing anyone. The little bird is beautiful and free to fly anywhere but it doesn’t love or need you. It leaves you alone. Don’t be like that. It’s not really freedom.
