  • Freya Allan and Owen Teague, two human stars of "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes," recently said that they are on the side of the animals due to the current state of the planet. Just like all of the libs, they hate humans.

    The point of the Planet of the Apes (1968) was that the apes turned out to be no better than their human predecessors. They did all the bad things humans did to apes. Hunting, prisons, experiments, abuse, etc. Wasn't much different from, "Animal Farm".

      Yes, and the Hollywood actors are too stupid to understand the deeper meaning. They just can think in categories and groups, and for them, it's "humans bad, nature good, apes nature", so they are pro ape. 🤷‍♂

    I think you are reaching with this one. You were never supposed to root or choose a side with all the movies. These movies (old and new) were meant to be a cautionary tale. The lesson was: Just because you have the capability/technology/intelligence to accomplish something doesnt mean you should. The humans should have never enslaved the Ape. The ape should never have enslaved the Human.

    Actors aren't hired for their intelligence, they are usually hired for their looks and be very good at saying things others has put in print, saying it in a way that are so near real life oral exchange as possible (and seldom get it right). Few actors are intelligent enough to study a wide array of topics to have a genuine knowledge on those things like climate change (a natural fluctuation), human development (no apes has evolved by them self, Ceasar was genetically enhanced by humans).

  • @JsYTA

    Gotta be honest, I'm usually all for the stories you share, but this one just felt pulled put of your ass.
    Apes are largely the protagonist in these movies, and I dont think there was any thought put into how she answered those interview questions. She was just rooting for the side that the film encourages you to root for, and giving a quick answer as to why. Not everything libs say is intentionally pushing agendas. Sometimes people just dont take interviews that seriously, or think about what they mean. Freya was simply projecting some of the deeper themes these movies are praised for. What she spit out in this interview clearly doesn't reflect her deeper political views.
    Taking this so out of context is the most liberal thing you could possibly do Knowles, and I'm a little ashamed DW doesn't aim to set a higher example.

    • @friedawells6860
      @friedawells6860 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      She was clearly referring to her views on environmentalism and human beings in general. She didn't mention the movie in her answer. I don't think it was out of context at all.

    • @JsYTA
      @JsYTA 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@friedawells6860 which are themes these film touch on. Albeit in a much more academic, far less liberal sounding way. I just dont think she put that much thought into her answer, and just said what she said because it was an easy response to a light hearted question. She's not on this press tour to share her political values or what she thinks on issues x y and z, she's just an actor promoting a film. Judging someone's entire political opinion indirectly through such a different context is just weak, especially when you do what Knowles does here and so openly couldn't care to put time into understanding the source material and it's themes. If you don't even know this movie came out, and think that they are simply about humans taking over ape overlords, how can I take what your about to say next with anything but a grain of salt when you've already proven to me you don't fully understand what you are talking about.
      It's exaggerated stories like these why people aren't able to take the real stories seriously. Especially when it starts off with a fundamental misunderstanding of the source material involved.

    What do you expect. The moment these hollywood celebs started making insane loads amount of money, and got put on "Elite" status. They have become disconnected from the rest of humanity and have been so for the past 120 years.
    To be fair, it's our fault for letting them get this way to begin with. How many of us became excited, starstruck every time we see a celebrity. As see and talk if meeting them as some kind of right of passage, or an increase in our prestige.
    How many billions was spent buying up tabloids just to get an update on an actors personal life? Wouldn't be a market if their was no demand, right?
    And for all the veneration people have given them for 100+ years, how do they us, the common people. They dispise us.

    The Planet of the Apes movies have always been deeper than what these two are saying. The apes and humans are used to explore different religious conflicts, political, etc. The first trilogy of them was pretty roughly based on the life of Moses, the Exodus, and the Holocaust. This series I expect to do the same. They're not really written as earth worship stories from what I've seen at least. I think it's just the actors' takes.

      The best thing is, they think, they are something better, because they hate themselves. They embrace it. They are proud of it. They humiliate themselves, exactly like clowns, and I hate clowns 🤮

      This is why I don't go to the theater anymore. I can fall asleep in my underwear in my living room. So no problem. I'll try to watch it when it comes to home streaming. 😊

      I saw it recently. I can see how someone with little knowledge of literature, philosophy and art could take this as simply as “what would you do if apes took over?” But I think that anyone who can look at it with an esoteric reading sees the franchise as an artistic and nuanced work. Yeah those actors are very dumb. And honestly neither they nor Michael read past the first one inch. It’s not “apes versus humans.” It’s a story about two people groups. It explores the way separate polities work in society, and it essentially challenges Marx by saying that the oppressor vs oppressed dichotomy is only a by product of immorality. I think Michael would enjoy the movie if he actually watched it. I’d love to see Michael, Klavan and Peterson do a review.

    I agree with Michael's argument here, but it really doesn't have that much to do with the movie
    SPOILERS
    It turns out that a number of intelligent humans hid away in bunkers for 300 years. Doesn't make sense to me and I feel like it undermines the themes of PotA. Most actors say things because it's popular, so I don't read into what they say.
