the basement one - if he does up the ceiling and walls then the basement counts as a finished room in the house and his house is taxed based on that. It's normal in the US to not have a finished basement
Don't people get the CalDigit because it supports more Thunderbolt ports and getting higher resolutions/refresh rates in your monitor. Is there an Anker equivalent that can do that?
